Where would you go if you could only have 3 nights away (from family, work, etc)? Either a reasonable drive or quick flight. Think- you want to optimize your surf time so travel time has to be considered. And if you really want to think hard, you have a budget of $500 to get there and stay there. WWHD?

    You didn't say from where.

From Cleveland in the winter, hit up Lake Erie. Icicles in your eyebrows. Good times.

For only $500, you're drivin' son. Even JB is $500-600 flight alone. So pack the wetsuite & head for the OBX if you're on the right coast. Or grab another body & take them along in the rig to split costs & share driving & keep going to anywhere from Frisco to Cocoa.

Or, pay me $400 cash & I'll get you a coach ticket to SJU on JB with my JB points. You laugh. But I have done that for friends: case in point, booked a biz class ticket to BKK for my buddy. Ticket like that would cost $6k. He paid me $700. Can't even get a crappy coach ticket to BKK for that number. We both won.

Im with yankee on this one--$500 does not pay airfare to PR, unfortunately, unless there is something in airline fares of which I am unaware. But who knows, maybe you should do some google....

Depends where you're flying out of. I usually fly Jet Blue out of Orlando to Aguadilla and it's like $250 round trip or something like that. Not bad at all, and where I stay is only $99/night approx., do the math, it can be done! My guess is it's not as cheap from your neck of the woods. I see Southwest is flying to PR now too? They're pretty cheap as well. Haven't looked at ticket prices in a year though.

Good point DPSUP. So, perhaps The Steamboat could strap a coupla buddies in the rig to help with gas & tolls & then drive to MCO & from there, follow your advise.
