The problem with a snap right between your feet is the flex is forever ****ed. The reason you can fix snaps above your front foot is it really doesnt affect the board feel.

Thanks for the tips LB...i was going to do a cheater coat this morning but found a number of air bubbles under deck/bottom carbon and cut them out this morning and will fix them later today...my shed is uninsulated and resin is still a bit gummy this morning. Heating it up today and will sand later and probably through a thick hotcoat. Years ago when using resin-x I used to a fabric cut squeegee to just lay it out a thicker fill coat quickly...probably do the same thing today. If necessary throw down another filler...

Skegs--thanks for the perspective...I totally agree the flex will be different as well as the overall weight. That's the reason why I wasn't worried about laying carbon down on the deck/bottom...more to follow.

the spray adhesive will continue to volatize/off gas and create air pockets especially when exposed to sunlight...prolly turn the area yellow as well

glassing will not stick to any area sprayed with adhesive

that board will be heavy as fvck

it will break again because .... well......well because of some engineering words that i never learned because i quit school in 10th grade. but yeah, d!cks to dollars says it breaks again in the same spot if you actually try to ride it.

this thread is awesome because you provided pictures.

that thing is an abortion..... but damn, you don't seem to give a fvck

    10/10 so far.

    Live4truth,

That bort is UGLY! However, I like riding ugly boards; they have character and show they have been surfed and been repaired and at least attempt to live another day. Not that you are searching for approval or compliments, but I bet you'll get more stoke comments when you surf that board than if you had a brand new bort...
    good luck!

You do know that the Cobra factory in Thailand craps out 80 of those Haydens every week including holidays.
Kind of like wrapping a Hyundai around a tree and trying to put it back on the road IMHO.
Bless his heart, L4T just likes to get his fingers sticky and honestly I concur. Looks like a nice little shape shack, why not get an EPS blank from LBC and build a clone?

Some truth to this. Still... it's used in the industry all the time, good or bad.

But really... does it matter? It's a broken board... he could still get the best barrel of his life on it!

i don't think it matters one bit as far as this repair is concerned imo

i am surprised someone would go through all this effort. that's what really got me going.... i mean hey, if livefortruth has the patience to do all that ......then good for him.

i would have taken the fins, ripped the traction off on the beach, thrown the board in the garbage and later used the spray adhesive for re-sticking the traction to another board. that's just me tho.

i hope he keeps us updated.

Thanks for the comments everyone...Ive had multiple Haydens for a while now and only a couple of them made by GSI. Most have been custom...originally got them through pureglass in CA and had a number of oddities--shred sled without the step rail, hypto without the beak nose etc. but his one in particular an d a few others from the Hayden shop. I k ow that a lot of the OTR boards you see in the lineup are made overseas but this was a US made board and I have had a blast on it...plus I do have the time and only have invested in the resin and fiberglass which I needed anyway. So I'm happy to be the Guinea pig to see if his effort is worth it ;-). I'm assuming it's going to snap again eventually...hell maybe make it a handout to friend or the swellinfo singled in yellow type of board.

As well I've never fixed a stringerless perimeter board or carbon but snapped poly boards, etc. I've fixed plenty of hose and others. Better to work on something of mine then someone else's...and have it come out with carbon strands everywhere like the deck of my Hayden. As well...this board has been heavily used over the last 2 years. It's my daily driver from 2'-East coast OH. As well I've surfed it in Nica (Nt., below) cold water barrels in NJ, MD, NY, etc. I really love he design but I'm guessing it's going to crease again...but no worries...ill sell it to one of you on here with a description of..."barely used" ;)
