Glacial Isostasy is also a contributing factor, not sure if it was mentioned in that article.

My mom owns a house 2 houses from the intracoastal waterway. She's putting it up for sale before the insurance companies refuse to insure that neighborhood. Then its cash only, and values plummet. That's looking at it from a selfish perspective, but once the water rises its going to be ugly. My buddy plans on raising his home up on stilts and riding it out.

It's already quite real down here. Ft Lauderdale has back flow valves in the storm drains to prevent the streets from being flooded during king tides. Same further south. South Miami has raised some streets three feet above the sidewalk level. Older coastal cities are having to abandon their more eastern drinking water wells due to salt water intrusion. Yet they're still building stuff like crazy (Margaritaville in my town comes to mind). How are they able to get financing and insurance for that stuff? I guess they expect the govt to eventually bail out everyone (big money interests at least) and pump more sand and erect seawalls. And then you've got the deniers all the time as well. Same as it ever was...

    Letting the days go by
Let the water hold me down
    Letting the days go by
    Water flowing underground
    Into the blue again
    After the money's gone
    Once in a lifetime
    Water flowing underground

Two of my all time favorite songs seldom and stank!

The last lines in the Heads song are either, "Time isn't holding up, Time is an asterisk," or "Time isn't holding us, Time isn't after us."

I like the first one mo betta; it's cryptic.

Al owes a huge thanks to the Sun cooperating with his theory that made him filthy rich. It was a brilliant idea to come out with some easy to understand issue with CO2 (that can't be solved) knowing all along its the God damn Sun causing the Earth to warm…freakin brilliant!

    Hilarious, yes. Disastrous also.
Al Gore has a degree in "journalism". From Harvard undergraduate. No law degree that I am aware of, or even care to know of.
