I like watching Strider Wasilewski get caught inside doing the water commentary.

Turpel & Potter are a vry good team. Turpel really knows his stuff. He's passionate about surfing & brings up deets that are interesting. Sets up Potter nicely with soft tosses & lobs for Potts to run with. Took me awhile to get used to Turpel's voice. But, then again, a lotta you surfer buoyz have that high-nasal-pseudo-socal-kicked-in-the-cojones tone to your pipes. Ergo, Turpel's voice is nothing out of the ordinary for the surfing circuit, same as Strider's & a couple of those other talking heads.

Turpel is awful. Never shuts up. Repeats the same phrases over and over again. Judges surfers who are well above his skill level. Talks like he knows everything.

He's honestly the worst. He never ever just shuts up and let the surfing do the talking.

Ha +1 - he's seriously the nicest though, at Lowers he always said hi to me & everyone who walked by him even when he wasn't filming for the webcast.

I did get a small cameo walking behind him durning an interview - my 5 seconds of WSL fame! :D

He annoys me also, but of course he judges surfers above his skill level. Is every announcer supposed to come from tour? It takes a special monkey to jump through the hoops at that level, and they're usually not the most articulate guys, as we can see in the post-heat 'interviews.'

Just checking into this event now...

Kolohe's mustache ... jeez, looks like the kind of guy you'd expect behind the wheel of Wayne's van. Chi-mo city.

I'm interested in Felipe Toledo against Australia's number-one cokehead. I agree with NYNJ/Scobey, Felipe could go all the way. He's certainly more of a pleasure to watch than the rest of the stinkbug squad.

Im going to say yes. He had way more turns and stayed busy the entire wave.
JJ had a crazy first turn, but slowed down before the air reverse. Wasnt that big either..

Both awesome waves, but if i was judging, Id def give that to SK

Debatable. I thought Toledos first wave that he got a 6.6
    was better.

JJF loses to Stuart Kennewho...? The utter & total destruction of my fantasy team is now complete.

    Snapper is snappin'!

Anyone thinking that there's some near-frantic re-evaluating going on in the camps of many of the established tour pros...?
