Its a single winged swallow tail 7'x 22"x 2-3/4" single to double concave, 5 fin set up for more wave range, its going to be a sic ride.
Shredding doggy style...I like that......haha!!!! Didn't have time to paint this evening maybe tomarrow...no rush!!!
All board designs are on a continuum... but these are what I take into consideration in terms of what distinguishes the different types of midlengths... Funboards are designed for ease of use, rather than performance. They're typically in the 7-8' range, and are wide, fully foiled, and have simple bottom shapes... usually flat to vee. They usually have round noses and continuous, moderate rockers, and have plenty of volume (thickness). Rails are forgiving... full and soft, with some edge in the tail. Usually a thruster setup, but can be a 2+1. If you take a funboard and start to tweak the design more toward performance, it becomes a "hybrid." Specifically, narrower with concaved bottoms, thinner rails that have a tucked edge, and thinner. They are more delicately foiled, and have more sophisticated rockers. The noses are more pulled in (typically pointed rather than rounded), and they have less volume overall. Almost always a thruster setup. A minimal is a downsized longboard... flatter rocker, wide, soft rails, round nose, and some kind of displacement bottom... rolled vee, belly, etc. and may or may not have some concave under the nose. Usually single finned or 2+1.
I have an 8' Haut that is badass! I have had it for over 10 years (epoxy)....board is indestructible. I have had some great sessions on that thing! Still would rather take out my lil'chunk 5'11" on most days but it's a good alternative and catches everything!
According to LBCrews definition, I have, or had I should say (just sold it to a bud recently who would use it more than I do) a hybrid. 7'8 single fin, round nose but slimmed down everywhere else. It was a blast in stomach to HH surf. In smaller surf I'd rather ride a small wave SB or a true LB. I honestly don't like most mid lengths because I feel there awkward. If I want something other than a SB I'd rather go the extra step and get on the LB. But that 7'8 was special. A real joy to ride.
I have a place for all types of boards in my quiver. Fun boards have their place and they are exactly what their name says it is, a fun board. But aren't they all? At least to those who appreciate all types of surfing.
"Fun boards" are a path to the Dark Side. Once you go down that path, forever will it dominate your destiny.
Hey bro that would be great! Although my surf time is usually fairly limited due spending time with my family. I usually end up surfing early morning when the swell is good- sometimes get out at other times but it's usually hard to schedule. So yea shoot me a PM when you go- but I can't really promise anything.
