Precisely my problem, got a shiny new stick couple weeks ago...Really, want to break it in; but, I will probably take ole' reliable out in the end
Just not sure if i'm going to need extra foam or not, 6'4" Fish / HPSB Hybrid w/1.4cu.ft. vol vs. 6' HPSB w/1.22cu.ft. vol, or if I really want to get crazy, go with the 9' HBLB Single fin.
I'm taking my jetpowered 10' x 25" x 3.5" SUP out past the southside of da Juno Pier - cowabunga and yippee kiy yiy yay mofos!
Actually I have a buddy down from Long Branch, NJ, I'm lending him my 6'9" Orion pintail (he's 6'4" tall and skinny) and I'll be on my old yeller 6'6" Orion swallowtail, it's 2.66" thick so it works well in good size, it's my ole trusty in bigguns. The 6'9" is too thin for me (2.25") and is for sale ($200), but Doug is only in his late 20s and has long arms so he can paddle it during the offshores (that we will supposedly have, I'll believe it when I smell it) and still get in early (sez him, we'll see).
I'm leaning toward more foam, but i'll probably bring both SB's and decide at the beach when i'm looking at it
That would be like the opening of a James Bond movie, "Live and Let Fry". Have Pennywise do a remake of the theme song, run over a few strays in the mid break, and spray the side of the pier with a flame thrower to flash fry the redneck bluefishermen. I can hear the music now.
Just got back from Corners. OH sets, hard offshores, lots of drift, sectiony but semi long rides to be had, spread out crowd, very fun sesh. Lots of wahines on the beach. I am icing the foot down, getting ready to do a late arvo go out after some meaningless work time. Life is goode!
nice Sisurfdog! I am heading to da beach now. Incoming Tide this afternoon, Winds shifting a bit, and the swell is filling in too!!! Hoping for some fun ones!
Sisurf brah, I was surfing a mile north of you, it was quite a lovely afternoon. Sun was shining, water was cool, and glassy lines rolling in all day, ahhh I need that today boys. Anyways, Sisurf, hit me up next time your in Jupiter.
Thanks bro! It was a good day of surf. We should have a few more swells this spring. Headed to Boca Raton (the mouth of the rat) tomorrow for biz, I'm thinking of going in late. Next time it's firing and the family is chill, I'll be in contact. Late spring it gets good up where the bluebloods reside.
Took off work early yesterday, low tide and a little inconsistent but chest to shoulder none the less, when the tide started to come back in....psssh.....let's just say, O.H. barrelfest, definitely one of the best afternoons in a while, surfed till dark.....yes
yesssssterday was firing. Surfed spanish house at first light for a few hours. Lots of closeouts and super heavy. Crowd decided to show up too so not much room. Left and hit up Ocean Ave in Melbourne and absolutely scored. Tons of makeable barrels, A-Frame peaks, and pretty much a blank canvas for whatever your fancy was. Surfed nonstop for 7 hours til the sun started to set. Wasn't an epic day in size, but epic in it's own right due to the conditions.
