I don't mind the crowds in the water quite as much as the beach/parking **** show. And I live in a place with a TOONNNN of free public parking. Afternoon sessions from May-October are pretty much out. Most people in the water in the warm months are basically buoys on foam boards. As long as they stay out of the way it's good.

Don't forget about the full moon. This will bring higher and lower tides and turn good spots to crap everytime.

Or vice versus, maybe it wakes up a spot that wouldn't normally break on high tide

True, depending on swell height and strength more water can always be a good thing at the right break.

It's some complex sh*t, ever changing, at least at the beach breaks

Yeppp. Last winter, spring, and summer, you could count on finding at least a thigh high peeler ANY day of the week at the jax beach pier basically. Now even on a decent swell it's got this weird double up thing on a higher tide, and lower tides just seem to zap the energy out of the swell.

I wonder how the N end of CB is gonna be since they're replenishing.

Paging CBSCREWBY. Although he's usually hanging S of the pier.

What about my own? Or does that go on the deck? I never can remember. I guess it depends on my fluid intake that day.

funny stuff. enjoy your short period shwag.

Not much point to surfing something in the single digit period at least for me, then again theres not much point in spending more then a few weeks a year on the east coast if you actually want to surf.

I was out there two weeks ago as they were finishing up. They only replenished a couple hundred yards north of the pier and the break between the pier and the "groin" was incredible. Big, fat, hollow head plus high waves. I drove down the north end as far as I could. they had the beach closed to all traffic, pedestrians included, at marker 9. Waves at marker 6 were ok. Watching the cam, things look alright.
I'll be exploring more end of month beginning of May.

I'll take what I can get, short period, medium period, long period, extra long period, no period, I surf, it's what I do. Only time I don't surf is when it's so ugly out it turns me off, way to big for my skill level, or it's flat. Can't be picky on the E. Coast, i'm trying to get 300+ days in one year, i'm about 6 months into that since relocating. I haven't kept track, but I've lost count for sure, i'd say i'm well on track for 300 though. If you count double session days that number is way bigger. I hope this summer is as good or better than last, if I recall we got a solid swell 1st week in June that lasted a while. That would keep the wave count up for sure.

Yah. Must adjust attitude. Keep the eye of the tiger. Pack that pit and pull out the back until your back gets pulled out for you.

    +1...isn't it swell

On the banks, when we get longer period swells, I search out some outside bars at mid-tide. Sometimes you can find the "early launch pad peak" that gets you in a bit earlier to do work as it walls out.

Shorter period waves and beach breaks can really be fun. Often times, there can be those quick hits that have local systems that create short period stuff that is short lived but super fun.
