I hope your grandchild OD's before he hits 20.

Perhaps only then will you finally contemplate how tiring, offensive, and simply unfunny you were to the rest of the world. Then you can finally croak and leave it, taking your tacky pointless comments with you.

You missed the two key words in my post....."If so".....The news is full of articles that he od'd on Percocet.
Learn to read the full context of my post and don't read SELECTIVELY to suit your imbecilities.
    God, your post is idiotic......

Having said that, I stick to my concept-if a person kills themselves with drugs (or anything else), they are idiots. Good bye and good riddance to them--that is the way the wanted it.

As for the Princes music/talent, of which I have expressed no opinion, if you all enjoyed it, good for you and him

Kidde Rocque and MIS, the fact that you're pigeonholing me into a political stereotype has more to do with your opinions than mine. It's evidence of the fact that your identity is bound up with opposition to something, as opposed to affirmation of your own beliefs, independent of categories manufactured by the media.

Now, my comment was admittedly stupid. I don't really wish or hope that for anyone. I have simply seen too many people have their lives ruined by substance addiction, and lashed out with a brief ill-considered comment, as opposed to a well articulated one, which I will try to leave here.

Every addict is not some person with great opportunities, who simply 'chose' to go down a path of substance abuse and ruined relationships. There are plenty of people who are simply good people, caught up in things larger then them, who lose their lives to very powerful substances. What about our vets, who are injured in the line of duty and end up addicted to painkillers? Our society has failed to provide the mental and physical health services they need, and as a result they have higher addiction and suicide rates. The VA is a mess. Is every PTSD vet that OD's an 'idiot'? Or have we failed them as a society?

What about regular people who have back injuries at work, or in a car accident, and are overprescribed highly addictive painkillers? They get hooked, and when the prescription faucet gets turned off, they are like junkies. They turn to heroin because it's $5 a hit, while street Oxy is $30 a pill. Are they idiots who wanted that life?

What about the people who are prescribed Xanax by overeager doctors? I've seen that stuff ruin peoples lives too. Do the doctors and pharmaceutical reps, who woo them with dinners and golf, have nothing to do with this equation? Or are they professionals making large sums of money selling a powerful substance they fully understand, to a citizen who doesn't know what he's in for?

I don't wish anything but a healthy, happy life for Barry's grandkid and everyone on this planet. Perhaps Barry's simplistic worldview is so engrained that it could only be changed by a personal tragedy- and that is what I meant to say. I don't wish that tragedy upon anybody. I just wish that people could pull their heads out of their asses, so that we could solve this massive problem, instead of jailing and burying otherwise productive people.

It is incredibly offensive to say that every addict is an idiot who 'chose their path'. Especially coming from someone who made their money in the industry that manufactures and sells these substances.

    1) Yes it was, but I understand your knee-jerk reaction. Forgiven, and forgotten!

    2) I am one of those--but I never got hooked, by choice. Could have, but made the CHOICE not to. Those that do not choose to stay off, are indeed WEAK.

    3) Pharma reps are forbidden to do both these by corporation policy, and by law. Stop reading liberal fiction journals/ that fill your brain full of poo. Physicians do not do everything drug reps ask them to do. They are taught at school and by reps on new products what the drugs are "indicated" (approved) for. Period. Recereational use is NOT one of them

    4) Thank you. And so do I.

    5) Every addict HAS CHOSEN their path to addiction. Evidence to that is simple ying and yang--there is the alternative choice to NOT take that path. Weak will versus strong will. Free will choice.

Blame your liberal politicians that want to legalize pot for the increase in addiction rates of opiates; pot has always been recognized as a gateway drug. There is ZERO evidence that would get pot approved by the FDA for ANY use whatsoever. It may work, but there is no supporting evidence. A product needs (law requirements of the FDA) 2 randomized, placebo controlled studies, with large numbers of patients to be approved. Pot has none.

Now go surfing slash, and enjoy your weekend. I plan to!!

I'm sorry WHAT now? Barry, do some research. Countries that have legalized pot don't have an epidemic of heroin addiction US is facing right now. Also, evidence and testimonials in support of medicinal use of the herb is pouring in by the bucket, kept under wraps by YOUR politicians still trying to figure out how to tax it properly.

As for gateway drugs - if you have no idea what you're talking about, you really shouldn't generalize like that. And I'm sure smoking cigs leads to alcoholism, right? Oh wait that's legal...

Testimonials?? That is anecdotal--does not withstand scientific scrutiny. I saw UFOs yesterday. Does that mean they exist?? Nope. Stick to what you know, Towelle. Evidently, medicinal science is not your strength. What other countries do under their banner of liberalism is their problem. If 2 randomized, placebo controlled studies with large patient numbers shows it works, then go for its approval. And ALL countries that have approved pot have a heroin problem- no exception. They just don't tell the world they do.
Now, go back to watching promotional programs on diet on cable TV--hahahahahaha!!!
    Go surfing, dummy.

I DO know what I am talking about that. It is clearly YOU that WANTS pot approved. Which is okay by me. To do so, have the studies done.

I don't get it. How can anyone take pleasure in someone's misfortune. It takes a stronger mind and will to rise above the petty nonsense. No one should assume anything at this point until we know for sure what caused Prince's death and really what does it matter. Let the autopsy decide and even then we may not have all the facts. Again, it doesn't matter. What matters are the words he tried to convey in his music about unity, love and peace.
News flash! We are all imperfect human forms on the same ship,so accept it and try to better yourself everyday. Addictions are nothing more than a pathway to emptiness in our souls. Everyone has that and it can be a dangerous place if we follow.

Whatever dude...this isn't the first time you had a tantrum and posted your wishes of ill will against somebody or their loved ones. You've done it at least 2-3 times...would you like me to review your posting history and put all your hatred up here for the world to see?

Your trite attempt to cover up your words is disingenuous. As a matter of fact, you don't even try to apologize. And that's just sad.

And as far as Stank and I "pigeonholing" you: I seriously doubt that. I asked you several months ago if you've *ever* voted for anybody that wasn't a Democrat. I'm still waiting for an answer to that question.

If you can't answer positively, then I guess we all have our answer.

Don't see how it's disingenuous, I admitted what I said was stupid and ill considered. I don't try to cover up my words, never have; I don't delete my posts.

As far as your question goes, I vote independent frequently, sometimes WFP & Green (usually all on the same non dem/repub ticket). Only reason I have party affiliation is to vote in the primary.

The reason I didn't previously answer your question is that I don't really care what some old man thinks of me, while he awaits a burst of sunlight in his lonely, rainy, sparsely populated corner of the world.

It's strange that you get such a rage boner for me. Perhaps a woman left you for a young handsome New Yorker? No matter. Have fun thinking of me, looks like I'm starting to accumulate troll haters ala Yankee.
