I gots no probz w/anyone at all out in the water - i almost don't even care if you're French Canadian (except more often than not they think their vaca rental gives them a d!ickhead pass)

    Except-

-observe general etiquette, and follow the rules, and know your spot in the line up - this is really were it all begins and ends
-if you don't know said etiquette, sit your a$$ on the beach or on your board, stay outta the way and observe how it works
-if you fok up said etiquette - apologize and give the next wave to the person you fockd up

Everyone else - burn and snake whoever foks up the afformentioned

One of the main reasons Ive surfed one time in the last 6 months. After 40 years it finally got to me. Being a surfer used to be something special, not everyone wanted to do it, not everyone could do it, and most people were afraid to do it. Now 50 year old ladies/empty nesters, are sitting next to you talking about their new board. Its been so diluted, bought and sold, it means nothing to be a surfer anymore. Thats why I backed off, hoping to start fresh eventually and learn to love it again. Its not so much that its worse, its that its different than the thing I grew up with.

    I feel exactly the same.
Imagine surfing Rincon, PR in the mid-1960's. We would go for 1 week on the beach. Other than Maria herself, we saw no other person. Now, 50 years later....there are 100 morons in the water, at 7AM, where one surfed by themselves. All of them are tourists from the USA (marketing).
Worse thing is, surfers did it to themselves.......

And they all want to "borrow" your wax........(too stupid to bring their own)

hey ive had to borrow wax man its a situation we can all be in. but yeah man my point of this thread is that i feel like theres little soul out there its just a bunch of noise and sell outs.

whats it gonna take to fix the problem ? who are the types of ppl to change it?

Well, those people in Deal, NJ tried to solve the crowd problem and they got shut down pretty quick right?

One solution (in MA, RI) is that there are more white sharks on the Cape and maybe someone will get bit. Not a great option.

Really though, there's nothing to be done- it's just demographics. There are more people now than in say, 1980 and with each generation, surfing is more a normal outdoor activity. My parents didn't teach me to surf, but I'll be teaching my kids to surf and so forth.

Rock climbing has the same issue - there are only so many great routes and crags around. At least with some beach breaks you can move around a bit to avoid a crowd.

I'm not following. What is 'soul in surfing'???
Does this mean someone who smokes dope, lives in van, doesn't have a job, and follows the global call of the waves! What if I have a job? Does that disqualify me from having soul in my surfing? Where is the line between soul and no soul for your average work a day slob who just happens to enjoy surfing? If I'm out there freezing my nut sack off in 2 foot slop in February do I have soul? Do I forfeit my soul because I just missed the last 2 wave events in my area because I was trout fishing and power washing my fence?

Not sure anyone can judge who has soul or not. Thats why its hard to get too angry at all those people in the water. Some of them are probably so excited, like I used to be and will last decades. i also dont think things are necessarily worse they are just different and I no likey different.

I like this. Thats why I walked, to tell all these bozos that they can walk and no one gives a shlt. I swear 50% just surf because theyre bored not because they they love it.
