Good for you 757. I've lived around the world and Kill Devil Hills is on my short list of places I'd like to retire. The perfect interconnection of affordability, decent weather, and good surf. That goes for most of the Outer Banks, really, but I've always gravitated to KDH for some reason. And working on the beach just kicks ass. Pics or it didn't happen.
There will be pics toonces. I'll get some up of the place and the waves here in the next few weeks. Apparently we will be living two houses down from Noah Snyder so that's pretty sweet
Fair enough, my bad. I'm more familiar with Hatteras Island. So if I hear 'Hwy 12 wash out' it's those island breaching events in the spots I mentioned that come to my mind. As to hurricanes, both NC and Florida get their fair share of storms. We are way overdue here. Hurricane Wilma came through as a weak Cat 2 in 2005. A better question might be where would one rather be in the aftermath? I think I'd rather be in Buxton with an impassible 12. At least I could surf.
Got married on the beach in hatteras, small gathering - have a beer for me and have breakfast at the orange blossom cafe in whatever town that's in on the island - best fuggin biscuit sandwiches and cinnamon roles ever made anywhere
