I surfed yesterday until my legs started cramping. Ps, red bull didn't work, but going home and taking a 2 hour nap did. HA HA
I couldn't surf for 5 hours straight if my life depended on it... but I could do a 3-hour am sesh and 2-hour pm sesh. I know I could do that for several days in a a row... like everyone else, who always does when they're traveling for surf. So for me, it's Advil, lots of water, and plenty of fresh fruits and veggies daily for energy and electrolytes. I'd say stretching, too... but I don't follow that, although I know I should. Can't hurt, anyway...
Somebody should ask damo how he does it. If he's still alive. WSL went live from cloud break last night. Mental schit
Gut it out. Especially if your on a boat. You're only tired when you're not surfing. Go sit on the break and be more selective. I guarantee you won't be thinking about your aches and pains when you're making the drop.
I agree with everybody sayin' not a bad problem to have. I can't do 5 hrs straight anymore due to being old and damaged. 1 1/2hrs to maybe 2 1/2hrs at the most is all I got without tweaking something. I eat fruit, especially bannas like a monkey to ward of leg cramps and hydrate like crazy. I never used to stretch but I do now before and after a sesh. Getting old ain't for p*ssies. The worst thing aboot long sessions when I was young would be my ribs getting sore and d*ck rash which may or may not have been caused by surfing.
At 65, I can squeeze out 2 hours when waves are 6 foot faces. Then it is nappy-poo time fo' sure!! Especially if I also want to go out tomorrow.....which I do. Good nite!!
paddled out at 7:45, got out of the water at 11:00, got back in 15 minutes later for about an hour and a half, got out, fished for 30 minutes and got back in for another hour and a half. I'm happy with that. HA
