Hey guys. I need medical advise. I am a HVAC/R tech. The other day I was up on the roof of a fire house. Well, you know those BIG ass sirens they have on fire houses that you can hear from miles away? Well that bad boy went off while I was up there. Basically right next to it. Felt like I got punched in the chest, it was extremely loud. I immediately examined my ears. They weren't bleeding. The rest of the day I had a headache and had that ears clogged feeling. Ya know, like when you talk your voice echoes in your head. Well Iv been been getting that feeling got the past few days now. Not constant, it comes and goes. And Im not deaf. But even as I type this things are sounding muffled. So am I going to wake up deaf one day?
A one time thing, not likely. It may take a few days for your hearing to get back to norml. Don't stick anything in there for a couple weeks and avoid surfing at all costs. Front stage next to the speakers at a Cock Dale concert ok.
You've come to the right place... Don't waste time/$ going to the doctor. Just post daily updates of your condition and you will get the appropriate feedback
You're screwed. If not short-term, definitely long-term hearing loss. As the 'tard stated, enjoy your tinnitus (for which there is no cure). Hearing loss is cumulative. Has nothing to do with aging, by the way, meaning just cause you're old doesn't equivocate to loss of hearing. It's what you've put your ears through during your lifetime, it all adds up. Those loud concerts, the huge speakers that you sat next to whilst stoned & grinning like a chimp.....the check comes due, without fail. And that's why lots of people in their 40's & up start going 'What'd ya say??' Foumre Medicale Advisemente Bureau, Case Numero 400. Status: resolved.
well running chainsaws and working around heavy equipment all day, and listening to my woman ***** at me in french the rest of the season has taught me one thing: silence is precious. If yours is being interrupted by a constant ringing in your ears there is only one cure: more salt water lodged into your earholes
Tinnitus is "ringing of the ear". It doesn't sound like that is what it is, based on your description. The pounding noise may have shaken loose some wax which fell on your eardrums, dulling your hearing. If you have ever had your ear irrigated, you will know what I mean--ears fill with collected dirt over time which sometimes fall unto the eardrum. As you only are entitled to one set of ears per lifetime, if it is still there on Monday, go see your MD. You can, as I do periodically, irrigate your ears with WARM water (no hot or cold) and see what washes out. Kits for ear irrigation are usually available at your local chain pharmacies. Good luck, and I hope you resolve it with no issues.
Commercial mostly. Do some resi work for my boss's friends and what not. But it's usually rich guys with huge houses and geo thermal units. Thanks for the responses guys. It's deffinitly not a ringing, just a clogged/muffled feeling that comes and goes. I think I'll try what Barry suggested, thanks for the advice. Just as an update, as of now im hearing pretty normal. Also, I'm only 26. But I have deffinitly put my ears through hell already. Forget being 40 and constantly saying "what'd you say". That started for me a few years ago. By the time I actually hit 40, I'm deffinitly screwed. It'd be nice to have somewhat normal hearing until then though
"The Bells!!!! The Bells!!!" Arrrrrgghhh!!!! Hunchback of Notre Dame when in the cathedrals bells tower, as they rang!!
