Got out with my new longbort a couple weeks ago, the replenishment still hasn't sorted itself out, need a few more hard Nor'Easters I think before it does. Looks like it's washed a bunch down to the S side of the pier too and is fugging that up a bit. At least once it gets sorted it will break better on a higher tide and there will be enough water to ride across the bar and be deep enough to drop off in the trough.
I'm one of those "fair weather surfers" people love to go on about here who only show up when the water gets warmer. In the winter, I ride the big white waves that are a little more than an hour away instead of 3+ hours to get wet. There were times in my life when things were different geographically, and I was able to surf every day, but not now. My surf season goes from April/May-October/November (trips to OBX extend the edges of that range). I'm far from being a pro, or even a wannabe, but I often feel like I'm having the most fun out there.
Make sure you take some out to demo for the local hotties at the next contest. Video is of course required.
Best surfer and friend that I surf with on any regular basis won't paddle out in winter anymore and only goes when it gets really good. I still hit him up when I'm making the trek down but he's like "dude, I paddled out almost every week for 20 years, year round. I'm done with that." I guess that make me more hardcore by some peoples definition but I'll never come close to having his skillz. In the end, neither one of us cares aboot any of that. Like you said, it's aboot having fun. Ain't none of us getting paid to do it.
Didn't know you had one that lil. Surprised you're on here and not passed out at every opp. Good story man, nothing like having fun with the lil ones. Got to spend a lot of QT with my youngest this weekend.
I'm in IT and we're under change freeze now since it's EOY and they gotta close the books and they don't want us breaking anything. So all I got to do is catch up on writing documentation and KB articles and crap like that. And I hate that. So yeah, I'm being a fark off today. After last week's hell week working till 11pm at nights I figure I'm due. On that note, I'm outta here. Gonna go enjoy the last gasp of low 80s and clear weather before it starts with the boiling heat and humidity.
yankee works for the NSA, thing about it, commutes to washington from virginia (or something), has plenty of funds and time to travel and is always saying conspiracy. it makes too much sense. ps i dont surf
Man, you put too much effort into that one. Maybe it's your tin hat? I actually work for the agency known as NSACIAFBI, I time travel in our black macro-choppers so it only takes me 3 mins to go 155 miles & who needs to work when I have your tax dollars 'at work' in my unlimited Ameritrade account. And remember: I know tomorrow's closing prices of all stocks....today. Think about that.
if your a government employee and ur part of a multi acronym organization hook it up. Ol trev needs a raise, they dont pay us enough not to smoke dope.
I don't surf. I have never surfed. I lied and lied and then lied some more. Some of you picked up on it, so I created other accounts that and lied through them. I had dialogs between my multiple accounts. It started spiraling out of control, but I couldn't stop lying. By the time I hit 1,000 posts, I had claimed I had purchased 14 surfboards over that time. By the time it was really out of control, I was telling you guys that after only 2 years of surfing I had gone from a beginner summer surfer on the cape to a well respected local at lowers. I was then faced with only one option - to become an abandoner. Thanks, EmassSpicoli & Atlantic0 and many, many others.
This is great, totally nailed it...*almost*. I wasn't a big fan of AtanticO, but his knowledge of the surf and the area in my local was dead-on. He's no Frost, I'll guarantee it.
Fkn Manisses/RMDN... Man, the AtanticO enigma really baffled me. SOme days I was convinced it was Emass, other days I'm like no way this guy knows way too much. One day a couple years back I was gonna meet Emass, and AtanticO was at PJ checking the surf...I was on the South coast and it never materialized but I so wanted that mystery solved.
