    So, this actually happened to me - - docs thought I had lung cancer, gave me 4-6 months based on what they saw on the CT scan. Walking out of there that day was just the strangest feeling ever in my life to know that. Mind racing. What a jumble of thoughts. But peaceful. It's like, well, what could I do about it, that's the hand that's been dealt me.

    I decided to do the things I liked best, as much as I could, within reason. Also decided to divorce my psycho wife, rather than burden my family with her after my passing (fighting over assets & all that). So, I filed the next week without mentioning that my countdown was underway.

    Turns out the docs were wrong. It was something else, not cancer, and it hasn't killed me yet. But the divorce was the right thing to do even though it cost me every bit of $300k. The stress relief is worth every penny. She was fine, butt she was a mistake.

    So.....
    I'd fire myself tomorrow;
    collect unemployment, just because hell I been paying into it for decades;
    sell everything / shift assets to close fam; set up trusts to benefit no-kill dog shelters;
    I like Stank's credit card binging idea, I'd go that route, too;
    leave here ASAP, go surfing, live by the ocean;
    the rest is sketchy & no way would I post it but let's just say it would involve the demise of torture world. Theoretically speaking, of course.

    But you better be really certain that your docs know what they're doing... :cool:

    (Friend of mine did something like this, without the death sentence. Wife cheated, corporate job was grinding him into a nub, he chucked it all, dumped the witch, cashed out all assets, split from NYC, lived in the DR for a year, became good kite surfer, re-located to Thailand where he teaches kite surfing to farang turistas, surfs in Vietnam & Indo & other 'local' spots, has stunning subservient Thai girlfriends & wonders why the eff I don't do the same.)

    Well, why DON"T you do the same??? At least for a couple of years. I would, but my fortunately my wife situation is very good, as is my financial situation.

    As for what I would do given 3 months??
    Yup, transfer all my wordly possessions to wife and daughter, and just surf , cycle, and smoke lots of dope. Travel?? Not much--I never liked traveling, even when healthy. Oh, I like some other destinations/locations, but getting there is such a fvcking hassle.....

    Got my death sentence in 2004 and did die for several minutes. It changed my life for sure. Saw the bright light. Buoys, there is "life" after death, but not like earth life. It is just overwhelming peace, no thinking at all, just all glowing peace.

    Glad you didn't leave us Betty!! and Yank!!

    As easy as that question should be, it's kind of hard. Being a military brat, I've had the opportunity to live quite a few places and see a few things. I think would like to go to Fiji and stay in one of those huts over the water for the remaining time. Fish, surf, whack it on my porch, etc.

    I honestly think if I had only 3 months to live, and had strength to do things like surfing, I'd try to get towed into a Teahupoo "Code Red" type wave. Just massive 40 foot thick Chopes.
    I wonder if the local boys would oblige and get you into a wave.
    With 3 months to live, what do you have to lose?

    Good one, Barry - - you can bring starchy as long as he's ground up & tossed into the chum bucket upon arrival.

    DPSUP, I figured you'd be one of the buoyz pinging me & I'm right....gracias...don't have a good answer yet....yet...

    Without being too inquisitive/invasive, Betty (not asking deets), was this the life-changing-moment aspect that let you follow the life you now lead, namely, surfing & living near the ocean?

    Not to belittle or make fun of Betty's or Yank's experiences but this is hilarious and the Alien Abduction version is even better:

    Agreed! Everyone pointed out Gosling's losing it in the middle of the gig, but it was the two fat 'Pentagon people' that were breaking roles as they struggled to stuff their laughter. Kate McK is something else: funny gal.

    Spend the first two months with my family... and say goodbye before I got really sick. If their last memory of me is a positive one, then I think I'd die in peace.

    If your heart says do it, then I say do it, Only live once, not here for long, do as many of things that you've always wanted to do before you can't. That's my thoughts on this thing called life.
