A whole lot of enlisted men have been aggressive or passive in not following immoral, evil leaders.

Man, did you get concussed in the knee high shore pound yet again frosty? You just make stuff up all the time.

There isn't an actual jail sentence this guy will serve, he will be a "free" man till he dies.

firing into trees? why not just stand up and say this isn't right?
as far as errant drone bombing there have been case after case where the target is mistaken through bad intelligence...when the order comes down to bomb a hospital in x whoever pulls that trigger must be wondering if it is right or wrong? what does he do? follow orders...

There are many, saurus. Will name a few later.

    It's never been enough, obviously.

Rule of law, such as it is, has been mutated via people who are twistign & playing & gaming the system. But yah still rule of law, sigh.

Sometimes what you think is absurd is merely pragmatic & effective.

It doesnt matter either way.....nothing is bringing them back. The guy is in his late 90's. It was a war crime that he couldnt refuse.

    Sad situation really.

Really...? Then what, in our so-called civilized society, is the electric chair or firing squad or lethal injection? Punishment or retribution or both?

man, you're in a cantankerous modus operandi today, saurus

That "line" that you refer to is hardly set in stone. Rule of law is defined by those in power. Ergo, constantly in flux despite being The Rule of Law.

All anyone is ever doing, really, is a macro version of 'Lord of the Flies' or 'Planet of the Apes' or 'Animal Farm' to utilize pop cultural touchstones.

Also, no, of course sorry isn't good enough....

...you want to execute a 95 year old man who was following orders? I dont think thats good enough either....

“We cannot, and should not punish him symbolically for all the perpetrators of the Holocaust,” What the judge said...

Just leave it for what it is and let him pass......hes now going to go a man convicted of accessory to murder............... which is not usually done for war criminals especially enlisted men.

wow really lol, thats fukd up putting a 95 yr old on trial.he probably did 4 years of service if that like most others, just doing his job.yes it was wrong, but this many years later to accuse him,not like he was the guy pulling the switch on the gas chamber...

not trying to defend the guy,but like sandblasters said basically every war we ever fought we did war crimes.its like the Vietnamese or the Iraqis try to arrest the 300k troops that served there and charge every single one with war crimes.id say the jews are in better shape than every country in the world right now, especially after the whole holocaust thing but shyt that was half a century ago,the Nazis been gone for a long time...white supremists aren't Nazis, just posers that think they are cool.everybody has their opinions
