Rode the Fish the past couple days while there was some chest to head high peaks out there, this morning I went with the LB and it was still decent out, waist high with the occasional chest high set, wind was almost calm, water semi-clean with a slight bump on it still but the wave faces were glassy when they rolled through. Not bad for late June.
i think id rather die alone and spend every dime of my fire money on surf trips rather then poon trips to montreal. if sea level rise happens enough tho and they become coastal however....
Ran out to the sandbar in front of my crib. Southswell is filling in. only 3-4 right now, but got a real sick short barrel. rolled in, got over a little step then got a mid face hack to stall. Quick pump under the lip then out the back. Great way to start the day!
2.5 hour DP this morning at one of the usual go to spots. Reports were that yesterday was real good on Cape, but was driving back from DELMARVA (personal business). I was considering making a run at TPTSNBN on Tuesday early, but I did not have a bort with me and the timing not good with said business. Gave a thumbs up to Mitch in Milton and the Z man in DE, the "shaka" as I passed njny and seen (CT) up the coast. Anyway, there was a little swell left at dawn, the tide was mid and lowering, the wind was light offshore, semi-glassy. Rode some nice peelers and liners. The occasional set wave had some juice, maybe waist shoulder. I had not been wet for two weeks (work, obligations, and flatness/uncooperative wind), so it took a few waves to find my groove, but it was definitely good to get out. The Carver has been a useful tool during the dry spell. That's all I got for now. Be well.
went out yesterday, wasnt bad, wasnt great, but fun.thought it'd be bigger but,a bit cleaner.a lot of closeouts tho with that incoming tide which makes no sense to me but I'm no oceanologist
two sessions today in two foot clean waves. Inlet jetty when the winds still had some southwest, then down the beach on a sandbar when the winds went west. Amazing how much fun small waves can be on the right board.
Was out yesterday AM before work. Pretty calm and not much ride-able, but nice to be in the water. Then large schools of menhaden appeared in the shallows all along the shore churning up the surface as far as I could see. That oily fishy smell. Got a bit apprehensive having my tootsies in the water with all that action going on nearby. Quite a few dolphin further out.
Paddled this morning. Quiet, nobody out, peaceful. Got my exercise in preparation for first hurricane swell, whenever that finally arrives (Fall). Will do the same tomorrow.
Perhaps sooner than autumn....there's been a July 'system event' every year from 2012-2015...fingers crossed for something that doesn't make landfall, just out there spinning for a week or so
Cleaned up a bit as the tide dropped this afternoon... got out on the log and got a few little peaky waves. Mostly in the thigh to waist high range. Short rides, but better than not surfing at all. Summertime... Water was warm, sun was hot. Lot's of bodies on the beach. I'll take it!
Rhode forecast was 2' which was ... generous. Small weak waves but hey, at least it wasn't crowded first thing. Water officially to warm for anything more than a spring suite up here.
Another small, clean DP this morning, with consistent waist high sets. Stayed local, but could have driven to another spot with longer liners. Had it to myself at first, but then got pinched a bit by a boyfriend/girlfriend combo, fully armed with Fosters logo longboard and gopro. They were cool though... stoked to be out on a beautiful morning.
