If your biggest motivation is surf...Oahu.

If your biggest motivation is a slower paced, peaceful, rural Moke-free existence...................

How about door number three, Bob?

Move to a warm climate like PR, or FL , work 3/4 time and surf a lot.

And what percent of posters here, much less regular surfers are going to surf pipe?
Pros live and (almost die) by this wave. Even if you are a visiting pro you are lucky to get one wave in a couple hours at good pipe. The average east coast Joe isn't getting jack squat at pipe.

Original post lacks any detail to even give you shot..like age, current job, family, surfing drive, etc.

Okay, you should pack your **** and move to Oahu. Done. Unless you really have your **** together, you will do what legions have done prior- move back home after 2-3 years to get a real job and buy a house, and walk around with an air or superiority for a while around your home breaks on east coast. Tell stories who was in the line up, etc. If you make it into 8-10+ year range, you won't come back and your whole mentality will change. You won't really **** around and try to impress hometown EC crowd, you won't even care.
Either way if you're free, great experience. Many other alternatives as well.
