It has been absurdly flat up here in NE, not even SUP-able. I hate July.

Got a couple hours off tomorrow morning to stretch out the Dawn Patrol session planned. Great waves came into FB today, went out on a project 6'9" TufLite board that flies. looking to capture all of the summer swell's greatness before 10am high tide tomorrow. Unfotunately, it fizzles out this wknd. Gonna go for a long shot and explore Pawley's Island on Saturday. Def LB waves out there, but looking to see what it has to offer off that pier

Super-fun chest to head high swell down here. Surfed for 4 hours this morning and probably caught 100 waves. Water is as hot as a bathtub.

Monday was kinda blown, but okay. Chest-high. A handful of guys out.

Tuesday was better, Head-high and textured, but lots of clean barrels. Solo session.

Wednesday was firing! Way Overhead bombers. Still some texture. Huge barrels. Got the best barrel I can remember this summer. Hanging on the wall, deep in a sandy monster tube. Came shooting out clean and threw up a dumb fist-pump to the doods sitting on the rocks. Also got crushed by a cleanup set. I had been paddling around chasing shifty tropical swell peaks, and I managed to paddle right underneath a monster Hawaii-five-0 style A-frame. I haven't gotten worked like that in a while.

Today was still good, but backed off a bit. Still a few feet overhead. Got out early while it was still glassy, and a barrel-fest. Some lulls. Nothing great happened, except I got blown up by some backwash.

Pretty surfed out, actually. Probably take a break until Monday.

That ESE long period swell filtered into Delmarva today. Amazing what 10 second periods look like when you've been surfing local windswell for the past month. Not necessarily better....but actually sets of three or four rise up in the distance and everyone can see them 30 seconds ahead of time instead of peaks just popping up 30 feet outside of you (or the next guy). From late this afternoon after three hours of a decent session.

I was nice this morning before work. Lots of dolphin close to shore.
Looks better for tomorrow. Water in low 80s here.

Jealous. Went south to the National Park from 10 to 2 and the waves were barely breaking. Had to paddle out on my daughters paddle board. Got some long rides but nothing like above and nothing that could push my short board. Guess the tide killed it.

Wow, this morning was so much f'ing fun! Solid waist - chest with a few plus sets thrown in. I knew it would be better than yesterday so I didn't even bother with the LB today, it was perfect for the fish. Clean conditions, very light breeze to almost no wind at all. The waves were a little soft but there were some ramps out there that stood up nicely for some solid carving turns, cutbacks, snaps off the lip, etc.

Wave of the day was a a walk off home run with a big bottom turn to the left, snap of the lip, re-entry, pump pump pump, off the lip cutback the other way with a big arcing turn to backside roundhouse snap off the lip as the wave shut down and I rode the white wash to shore and went home just buzzing from the session.

    Surfing today was like...

Yes, today was good. Felt like a tropical system-caused swell. Stoked, haven't surfed in weeks before this week of fun swell

Don't know about everyone else but it's been a while since we've actually gotten some proper waves. The past two days were exactly what I needed!! Yesterday was chest high and glassy in the morning and today was a notch smaller but the wind stayed offshore. The combination of those two factors made for the rare good through both tides morning. End my session with some fun little drainers. Sure beats the hell out of thigh to waist hightide summer slop!

It's okay in Manasquan today. The last few days I've heard were alright, but I was catching up on some much needed sleep.

I had a nice mid day session earlier, just had to fight with about 45 other people there. Heading to Belmar for an evening session right now. It is the most consistent spot in the world, so I'm sure there will be something nice! Well I seriously am going there now.

This afternoon around 6 p.m. was definitely in top 5 most crowded conditions I've ever paddled out in. More crowded than numerous session in fun conditions at Lower Trestles, more crowded than many sessions in fun conditions at Swamis, more crowded than east coast hurricane swells hyped a week out.

And it was 2 foot on sets.

    Ridic.

Jeez. Depressing. Here's one reason why. There's 73 people in this list serve group wtf:

Subject: [Ladies-who-Surf-DMV] Surf board rentals now available at Assateague Island Surf Shop!
    Reply-To: Ladies-who-Surf-DMV-list@meetup.com
    Hi ladies,

I went out to Assateague on Saturday and popped into the surf shop again. They have their rental boards set up (all foam beginner boards). They rent them for $25 per day, $40 per 24hrs and $60 for 3 days. This is great news for anyone who needs a board when we go on the surf trip the 29th-31st as it is MUCH more convenient than renting in Ocean City.

The only issue may be that they have only about 10-15 boards. They do allow people to reserve them in advance as long as you pay for it, so as we get closer to the trip we may want to do that.

Also, the water was warm enough to surf without any wetsuit for the first time this season. For those who get cold really easily, you still may want a spring suit, but most folks should be fine without any wetsuit when we go.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks.

I swear y'all Mitchell has some of the best pictures of East Coast surfing it seems like his spot always has waves I don't understand it. Not sure what spot it is in Delaware. I'm gonna guess it's Indian river, no need to drop the name but I do want to surf that spot next time I head up in the Delmarva. It's been too long since I've got the surf Ocean City and assatg island as well.

And and two months of my foots unbroken beach for nourishment Will have taken over my break and off to drive 40 minutes to Georgia or 40 minutes to Edisto to go surf on the good winter swells. Or if I have time to Brevard County. Or maybe poles I have to get the surf there because it's so damn crowded but it seems like one of the best breaks in the state.
