Disturbance 1: 10% Chance of Cyclone Formation in 48 Hours As of 2:00 pm EDT Fri Aug 5 2016 ... An area of cloudiness and thunderstorms associated with a trough of low pressure is located over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. Some slow development of this system is possible while it meanders near the coast of the Florida panhandle during the next few days. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent Likely this will be too close to land to develop much. But there are still some who think it could develop and be more than just a rainmaker.
From flhurricane.com: "A near stationary, hybrid region of lower pressure over the northeast Gulf of Mexico currently producing slightly organized showers and thunderstorms is showing more signs of consolidating this evening, and over the course of the next few days could become an officiated tropical cyclone. As of today, Friday Aug 6, NHC odds are running 20%, and this could be conservative. It now appears increasingly likely that a cold pool aloft will interact with this feature, and together with the aid of record warm SSTs as fuel from below, could make for explosive growth, even without the formation of a classic tropical cyclone. The combination of little movement and huge water content may result in widespread flooding, with record local totals possible. "
Yesterday and today had some clean and fun surf for 1st light sesh. Not crazy but a great break from this seemingly ever-lasting flat spell. Hope this low will help keep it going a little longer. Water is still pretty warm here though, 86.
That is bath water. Sounds almost not enjoyable. It stays around 80 here in NC at peak of summer and I wouldn't really want it to get any hotter
Aiming for 7 a.m. Hoping to last two hours, but lately it's been dicey...my gang will be there, so they say.
" Some mild banding-type features noted in radar overnight. Velocity data has shown winds of up to 50MPH embedded within the strongest lines offshore, which has prompted a few Special Marine Warnings"--- flhurricane.com
