I've been advised an introduction thread is the proper decorum around here. I apologize for blindly jumping in the deep end, here's my hello thread. 20 year surfer from the great Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do most of my surfing here and in Rhode Island but have had some incredibly lucky trips in my day. Spend my sessions pretty evenly distributed between the long and shortboard and have been exploring getting something funky like a fish or mini mal to bridge the gap. It's a cliche at this point but surf is life for me. If it's flat I am an avid reader of fiction and love hiking and the outdoors in general. That photo is a little grainy and had to be cropped for privacy issues but that's my favorite wave in New England. A good swell will run for hundreds of yards down the rock reef or pitch a heaving a frame like this. The a frame is a much shorter ride but makes a nicer photo. Somewhat crooked horizon but I just love this photo. What a fun day it was too, early forerunners from a tropical system, light crowds, and perfect shape. And this is the only pic on my phone of me actually riding. I'm no pro but can hack a so-so turn and chase the tube on a lucky day. Have at me. Glad to finally enter the jungle after watching from the forecast page for so many years.
Nice start , but we are wanting to see pics of the woman in your life, something in the skimpy bikini dept. would work. Thanks your friend fl.surfdog.
Welcomme Codfish. Valiant stand on the other tread. Persistance. Nice pics you've posted there. How tall is your girlfriend? How good are your sand reconne and leash knotte skills? We really need those pics of GF, wife, sister or mom.
Wife pics? Never happen, sorry. No website is worth getting murdered in my sleep if she happened to stumble across that posting so I will not be spicing up the place in that sense. My avatar is a pic of Reef, the best damn dog I ever met. New England has been typically flat all summer with last week being the only solid swell in months.
My wife is a petite little blonde at maybe 5'2'' and was the cheerleader in high school they tossed into the air. She is a feisty little thing and while I'd really love to show her off, not gonna happen. After a decade of knotted, snarly leashes I finally learned and started hanging them on a hook in the garage between sessions. Haven't seen a knot in years.
Have you had difficulty in finding a propre fitting wetsuite for her? Sorry for not being entirly clear. It's the knotte in the leg rope string that is of concern. It has become a serious issue in the line up lately. Your life depends on it.
Welcomme C-fish. Nice photos. If you ever need any medical advice or bbq tips, you've come to the right place. Not so much for accurate forecasts, but the bouys never lie (except off RI, of course).
I use swellinfo as a loose, longterm forecast for work scheduling but once I get closer I usually go with buoyweather(great site the fishermen use) and then real buoy data beginning a half a day or so before the actual go out. And I've gotten up at 4 am to 8 feet plus on the buoy from a southerly direction and driven to RI only to find ankle-slappers. To this day I can't figure it out. Wind was calm, swell was there on the buoys, no waves at all on the beach. Freaking Rhodie man.
Herro Mr Cod, welcomme to the forum. We've possibly shared line-ups. Be careful, this place can turn you into an addict. My work productivity has suffered considerably.
I have the sweet kind of job that is reactionary and not productivity based so it's all down time or zero down time. Found a few more pics to show off... That favorite spot of mine, reeling off rights like a machine. My kid brother is one of those board sport enthusiasts that just has natural style, drives me nuts but love to watch him ride waves, snow, or the pavement. When ocean beach gets really big.
I won't ask more than this, but is that right in MA? Also, I ride a boggy board, could we still be cool?
Swell direction, tides, bathymetry....I've equally been surprised with a 2ft swell and 4 foot waves...it happens
Maybe privately I will tell you what new england state it resides in. I've always described it as the east coast Trestles. Rock bottom and almost never a barrel but a perfect 1/4 pipe just asking to get technical on. I'm a firm believer in the best surfer is the one having the most fun. Laugh and smile through them boggy turns and your Kelly Slater in my book
I have to applaud the way you blocked out landmarks with the pics bc it kinda looks like a wave I know but it also looks like this wave in the aforementioned state, that i have no clue aboot, but I've seen pics of and want to find.
Yeah typing a post on a phone for a website forum and it was a true grammatical error and not just texting. I'm sooo uneducated. Try again Internet tough guy. Edit: also if that sentence doesn't make sense YOU'RE doing it all wrong and I feel bad for what YOU'RE missing out on.
Yeah, bogging bottom turns is total bs....that shyte pisses me off, especially because it only happens in the easy small days....when I'm going slow as shyyte And I'm wit SS pretty sure that one NE pic you speak of is one of two spots, one of which I've been to once, the other I reconned once....both of which have pics & vids all over the net
