Knowing full well to NOT expect any Gaston swell until this afternoon, I took a quick look at the local cam--FLAT.....but, unusually, there were at least 100 surfers IN THE WATER expecting a swell!! hahahahahahahaha!!!!! What a bunch of fvcking retards!!!!hahahahahaha!!!!!! Too funny. Well I think I will now ride my mountain bike to the beach and point this out to all of them, making friends and influencing people!!! hahahahahaha!!! Morons....... Oh, and btw, SI and MSW both said the swell was due YESTERDAY morning. I did the math my self, once again, and came up with this morning late. So far, I win, they lose!!!!! Again!!! Marketing and commercial forces push the advertising site to bring customers to the beach........
Surfed low to incoming Saturday and Sunday, with only a few other people, with Sunday being half decent... waist high crumblers and semi-clean. Winds didn't cooperate, but at least they were light enough to keep it rideable. Rode the log both days. Funny thing was me and two dudes on foamies were getting all the waves, with guys on the latest, greatest grovelers having a hard time catching the 2' mushburgers. I could feel the hate...
That hate felt is what justifies my life. As we glide by the morons we can say, "that is the 23rd wave in the last 10 minutes...and you?? One, perhaps??" hahahahaha!! Go grovel.....
99L gave us some local wind and chunky short period choppe over the weekend. Met up with my buddy and got some sloppy waist to chest peaks Sunday morning for a few hours. Many fun rides with steep drops at first until the tide dropped and made it shallow and sketchy. Wish I had gone out a bit earlier. Still, it was good to surf at home for a change. Haven't done that in a month or so. We might get some more here in the coming week depending on what all these systems do. Life is good.
Good days out at the FB. A little bit disorganized, but def great waves for the LB's and perhaps the funshapes. Only one day over the wknd where i got bring out the shorty for a spin, but the longer the better was the werd
Fun little bump this weekend at the Lighthouse. Waist highish+ and clean at times Yesterday afternoon, The rain was coming in bands and looked all tropical like. Had no idea at the time that little low was forming right off the coast.
got out this morning before work and caught a few chunky chest high waves that held open for a bit...unfortunately the wind from that TD nearby (99?) and the high tide made it fat and chunky. Still was better than sleeping in. Headed south tomorrow.
Delmarva: Just got out winds never came up, and by mid afternoon it was chest high long period lines with plenty of shoulder high+ sets. Long rippable lefts and rights. Best waves i've surfed since April.
Solid ground swell .. caught some nice waist/chest+ waves. Long fat lines -- needed to pick off a corner, otherwise lots of sections, perhaps due to the swell angle. Definitely found a a spot that was working & fun. Wind switched hard northerly early afternoon and made a mess of things, but died around 4ish -- sized the opportunity for a 2nd sesh. Good to have some waves again. Hopefully Gaston will keep pumping the swell our way.
NE winds putting some funk on it this eve but managed to catch a few chunks. There were some nice sets with decent energy...more to come! Next few weeks the key words are: time management. Bonus key words: water time. I'm trying to surf as much as possible, YOU?
Had some fun chest-shoulder high sets in the am in nags head here. Nice to feel the energy in he surf as well. It was way cleaner than forecasted until like 1130am and then the NE came up and really blew it out. Been surfing everyday for like 4 days in a row. Can't even remember the last time I've been able to do that. Timing will be everything the next couple weeks. Get on it boys!!
I think we're getting the gust of Gaston on Thursday night. Been dawn patrolling and evening sessions still then so i can lock up a day's rest and ready to be out there. Maybe a day is an exaggeration, but it's been swell in the SE. Lotta waist highs and then chesties sparingly. Long intervals, pretty chop after 12pm. Been fun for the last 5-6 days....
Got out for a bit this morning. Tide was fat but still some fun ones. Chest high on the sets. This afternoon should be fun will incoming all day.
Cape was big and confused this am but lots of power in the swell. The wind died off and some big sets started rolling through. Offshore wind tomorrow looks promising.
Got out yesterday, low to incoming... and it was super fun. Long period... long lulls, but when the sets came through it was 6 or 7 waves and super ripable. I rode a little fish and it worked out perfectly. Set waves were shoulder high, long glassy lines, and very little current to speak of. Once the tide filled in it sort of killed it. But for a couple hours there we actually had GOOD surf... something we haven't had for way too long.
Better than it looked, yesterday. Expected another high-tide stompy shorey session, but it was breaking in a few more feet of water and was peakier than it has been. Got a couple of sick in-and-outs that just made my day. Hoping for a repeat today. Only chest-high, but lots of fun!
I got home from work in Mission Beach yesterday evening and was shocked at how fun it was! This morning..not so much.
