Had a few great waves, then got hammered by a few, caught inside. But I survived it once again. Only 5 of us out; everybody respecting and taking turns. The prior day it was 25 foot faces. I waited that out; getting too old and I acknowledge my pulmonary capacity is no longer what it was many years ago. Still had fun.

 

Really when you boil it down, it's all about poverty. If whites were the oppressed minority, then I have no doubt you'd see the same level of violence in 'white' inner-city neighborhoods.

I do agree poverty plays a part, but how your raised basically says it all.

If you grow up without a father figure to beat your behind when you screw up, you're not going to have much respect for anyone or anything.

 

I agree, doesn't matter what race you are, not having a father figure, and a supportive home environment only leads to trouble.

It's relevant to Scoby's post where he muses that black kids are killing each other but white kids are not. Poverty, not race, is the biggest determinant of violence in ones neighborhood.

 

I know of a lot of friends, all races, that grew up with out fathers. They did not kill, steal, pillage or loot. That point is the usual liberal, sociology derived garbage, red herring.
The solution is much more complex than that.....unless of course, one is a "sociologist", a non-science discipline based on uncontrollable studies and phony, contrived data.

The problem is black on black murders. You having no doubt about hypothetical white on white is irrelevant. IMO poverty is a factor for sure but lacking family values, fatherless kids, and direction in life is the reality. I agree with Scoobs premise too.

 

Yea, but the color of ones skin doesn't by itself make a person more or less prone to violence. It's all the things you said, "lacking family values, fatherless kids, and direction in life is the reality". Maybe I read scoobs post wrong, not sure. Why is black violence worse then white violence? For the same reason that black people have a much higher risk of living in poverty than white people.

 

Sigmoid, I am with you on this matter, but only due to raw numbers, not percentages. White on white total numbers are much higher, simple because we iz bigger population.....

 

The Why? in your remarks is a loaded question. But, the fact remains it is a major problem within the BLACK community. I would argue that one born with black skin is much more prone to violence than any other color. Why? Is it Liberal/Social engineering (seriously) or is it the fact that they are predisposed from a genetic standpoint to (Pro) create and not worry about the values that other cultures see as paramount in raising children? You have women having multiple kids with multiple baby daddy and daddy with multiple babies from different baby mommas and it seems apparent to me what the problem is. Not sure what we are missing (as a society). Seems pretty straight forward to me.

 

Race has no bearing on this. It happens with your lilly white ass caucasians as well.
Poverty is the main determinant.
To say it is black DNA (genetics) as you state is to practice "Eugenics", a social evolutionary theory long long ago discounted.

Genetics was tongue in cheek (about all the baby mamas and no daddy around). So, you are saying that poverty is the reason for the disproportionate violence? I don't disagree with this, but I think the values angle within that race has more to do with it. I see family structure as solid as a rock in other societies/races that are dirt poor...poverty is not the sole reason IMO.

Holy sh*tfvck... really??? Now we have someone posting that the color of someone's skin predisposes them to violence? God, that is depressing. What's even more depressing is that EVERYONE on this site has not rejected that mentality. It is contrary to science, fact, demonstrably racist and should be soundly crushed by everyone on this site... unbelievable.

No, I asked the question why the disproportionality with that race? I don't know the answer do you? However, I am saying that a black kid born here has a higher probability of growing up and committing violence. Nice try though.
