I agree. I personally haven't had any guard run-ins but the oblivious and/or obnoxious tourists are getting to me. Can't wait for Labor Day to pass. :D

Not so much against the guards as being FOR being able to surf all day any day.

It is important to completely get rid of ticks as they can make your life miserable. Therefore take proper care of your home and for more advice you can call professionals.

Agree on the lifeguards. A break in front of my house is guarded from 10-6, just on weekends now i think but could be wrong- work M-f 8-5. I only have to go a block down, but usually there is some kind of drift and the waves do break right in front of the lifeguard tower in front of the place. Tourists are all pretty much gone since the start of school a couple weeks ago. Lifeguards should be at school too, at least i thought. soon...

The beach at my place now is guard free! They have been replaced by signs that say, "Swim at Your Own Risk" which pleases me greatly.

Now just waiting on the parking bans to end. Got a $50 parking ticket yesterday, but whatever, I wasn't going to walk a mile to the break, fuk that.

No lifeguards=no beach fees. Less Benny's, less shoobies.
    Good riddance to all.

Lifeguards are a waist 90% of the time. Yesterday at Assateague they banned swimming, beach goers could only go in up to their knees. My wife was relegated to the beach while they were letting anyone with a boogie board and fins into the line up. I swear there were two kids nea me that were no more than 7 years old on boogie boards while my wife who is an excellent swimmer was sitting on the beach being cooked alive.

Its not an exaggeration that the vast majority of rescues I have witnessed have been done by myself and other surfers. While these rescues were happening the lifeguards were on their stands, staring right at us and were clueless.

Yes, but in their defense outside the guarded area. I think the world would be better if they just put a sign up that said swim at your own risk all summer. Then maybe people would realize that lifeguards are not there and would look after themselves. I saved a kid a few weeks ago that was no more than 15 feet from shore, right on the edge of the guarded area with his mother and another woman knee deep and yelling to him to get in. You could tell the kid was exhausted and could barely keep his head up. The woman obviously couldn't swim because they were panicked. I ran down the beach jumped waist deep into the water, reached my hand out and pulled him in all in one motion. The lifeguards didn't even react. That kid would have been dead before they realized.

Outside the guarded area. I recall a guy here in FL lost his job for saving someone outside the guarded area a while back lol Oh how this world is f'ed up.

I agree with you Zip, let people look after themselves. When a lifeguard is present, some folks have a false sense of security and will put them self in situations they wouldn't otherwise. Remove the safety net and people will be more careful I bet.

The lifeguards here save people outside the guarded areas all the time (PB County
    Ocean Rescue).
They are awesome watermen and good surfers, mostly. However, the Riviera Beach
municipal beach lifeguards have to be rescued by the surfers whenever they go in over their nappy heads.

Really? You don't mind being told where you can surf during the day?
