I have a close friend of the family that is turning 68 this month and retired years ago down to Bradenton Beach. He was in the coast guard and used to captain some kind of cruise ship or something, I forget exactly what kind of ship. But he retired early and moved to Bradenton Beach and surfs. He's lived all over the place, including Ventnor, New Jersey, before retiring at the turn of the millenium and moving there. He could have lived anywhere and chose Bradenton Beach. I always ask why he'd move to the Gulf Coast or why he'd move anywhere other than the California or the Carribean/Hawaii, etc, and he says he wants more time to do other things like golf and boat. He says he'd be too tempted to do nothing but surf every day, if he lived in a place that got waves every day or almost every day. I've heard he's been surfing Anna Maria Island and Bradenton the past few days. Oddly enough, my mom and grandparents live in Treasure Island, though they summer in Cape May. A couple friends of mine live there too, as does my uncle. Although none of them surf.
Good luck to all of you in GA, SC, NC, VA, and beyond, looking at the radar it's knocking at your door. Stay safe everybody and keep us posted!
If you want some fun, turn up the volume and hit play on all of them at the same time. It's kinda like being in the Trump thread.
Dying over here. A/because I've actually done that and B/for the spot on analogy. I'm finishing my coffee.
Yeah, but I bet you were prepared. Had your pizza and Chinese food ordered. Had your rubber boots and raincoats ready. Coulda been much worse if you weren't prepared.
