Guys, we have to stop this. Some hazing is OK. Telling people to kill themselves is not.

Can you point me to the post where someone told him to "kill himself"?

Ah, I must have missed that one. I didn't post that but I do know that's an inside joke known by most on the forum, but to a new person I realize that may not be known.

That ding looks just like one on an old board I bought off Craigslist. I just dried it out, scuffed up the surface, and layered glass into it, maybe 4-5 layers. Sanded flush with the rest of the deck and hot coated. Now it's reinforced and stronger than ever.

    Also, DON'T kill yourself.

I had the exact same repair this summer, came down from an air wrong and put my knee like and inch into the board with a big crack by stringer. Silver lining here is you did not damage the stringer. My repair came out well, I'll tell you what I did.

    (1) I did not remove any glass from the ding. (2) I sanded entire area very well with 60-grit sandpaper, including a ring about 2-3 inches out past the diameter of the ding (very important). (3) Used q-cell filler with epoxy resin to fill the ding, very light on the resin and over-filled the hole. (4) sanded the q-cell down just below (maybe .5 mm) below the surface of stringer. (5) laid 2 layers of glass over the ding, extending about 1 inch past ding diameter and over the stringer. (6) rough sanded edges and then put a hot coat of epoxy. (7) sanded with 120, 220, 300, and 400 wet sand.

A couple of years back I damn near put my knee through the deck of a new board on the very first session. Been there. It took quite a shot to do that damage regardless of where or how the board was made. I would remove the surrounding glass. Next I'd use 4# density two part pour foam to fill the depression. Then I'd sand it flush. Next I'd paint the new foam with white acrylic paint and let dry for a couple days. Next I'd glass with three patches of cloth with one being 6oz and the other two being 4oz cloth each one bigger than the next using lam resin. Then I would hot coat and sand just as if I was making a new board. Since the damage is directly under where your back foot goes I'd avoid filling the depression with resin or Qcell as you would be adding weight and creating a "hard spot" where the glass would hinge and crack again from your feet being on it. This is the path a pro ding guy would likely take. Good luck.

Please don't push it. I want to be cool here and not flip my switch but suggesting any sort of grievous injury or death should not, and will not, be tolerated.

    Austin....

It started out long, long, ago.... in a time before Austins roamed the interweb...

Uncle Two Barrels (the dude with the barfing aviator) replied to every hello tread with the final line, "Now go kill yourself."

No one, to the best of my knowledge, took his advise.

It has become part of the Swelly vernacular.

(all misspellings, improper grammatical structure and word usage were done on porpoise.)

    Sincerely,

    Bob

I really wanted to help until you put my locale down so badly. I am a nh/ma guy and it sucks to hear you say that about our spots, but to each his own. Nobody put down ocean beach, which we all know is way glamorized and more full of sharks, closeouts and fog than big barrels.
Grind that shiz down a little and put some glass over it. Then gloss it is you really care, but there should be wax over it and you wont really see it anymore. Make it water tight and ride it.
Or for real advice, ask people who actually build board. Swaylocks is where I would start there smart guy.
