Sweet! Nothing better than free (surf/ski) travel. Gaming the system for once, instead of the other way 'round.

I'm stoked for you going to Eleu. I've been three times, but its been 15 years since the last trip. I seriously love that place. Not the best surf, not the most consistent, but there is something about that place that just haunts me and makes me want to move there. The vibe (at least 20 years ago) was so slow and tranquil, and the rugged bleak beauty of the island is amazing. Its like a 100 mile long spine of limestone rock sticking out of the ocean, with JUST enough soil to sustain. I remember someone down there telling me that everything edible growing on the island (tomatoes, cabbage, pinapples) are in holes in the limestone filled with the ashes of burned vegetation. Other than that, there is no dirt.

We've never been and it's been on the list for a long time. Would love to hear more about it. I'll shoot you a PM.

I have never owned one, just ridden one, and for me it did not have the floatation I am accustomed to, as an aging surfer. Also, many have complained, and I have observed that the glassing was not up to par.
    just opinion.

FWIW, Barry, my 6'6 Lost Lazyboy has been a blast to ride. Floats my frame (6'2, 205) with no issues & is a very good paddler; easy to shove into waves; I can duck dive it; turns well for a boart with that kind of volume (49 L.); has lotta volume crammed up under the stomach-to-chest area; deck has heel impressions & all that; so far so good in thigh-high to OH.

The board you describe is larger than the one I rode (for about 1 hour, no more); I think I was on a 5'10". Way too small for my carcass.
Anyway, my real philosophy on boards is that we should be thankful there are such a wide variety of makes and styles. Every one can choose what they like and have fun on them.
I will say this--age plays a vital issue in boards. AAt age 55, 10 years ago, I could ride anything, with ease. At 65, there is a "drop-off" in what one finds rational to be surfing on. My similarly aged friends agree on this--entering your 60s, you weight, height strength, relationship changes and wise men adjust to it. My shortest board is now 7'6" and I am still having a blast on them, as I did on the shorter one I had, as well as the LB I still own and ride on smaller days.
But I still like to tease/needle the hell out of "coffee cup" riders!!!!

Next surf trip for me might be the lake behind my house, it isn't a huge lake, but it has potential.

If conditions don't improve soon, I may need to book a ticket or drive some place. Who's got a trip coming up or just got back from one? Let's hear it!

Just secured tickets down to the Caribbean for late December... and a new 2-board coffin bag. I plan on island hopping for a week... and either surfing or diving every day.
