NHC 11 am: A Hurricane Watch is in effect from Deerfield Beach, Florida to the Volusia/Brevard county line. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect from the Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys northward to south of Deerfield Beach, including Lake Okeechobee That's a bit of a relief for me. I can deal with TS winds. We get those in afternoon t-storms all the time. The forecast track hasn't changed much so it's too early to sound the all clear. The rest of my Florida brothers and sisters further north, get your rubber boots and raincoats ready. I'd hold off on the Chinese food for now cuz you want it to be fresh. DP, how far inland are you? In a potential evac area?
That would be 98L. Been there for a while. 80% chance of TC formation. I'm hoping it can strengthen more and weaken the high pressure ridge that's keeping Matthew west. It's already baked into the forecast though.
No problem. From the looks of the track Mitchell just posted, if that holds, I may need to get cracking this weekend on my own list!
About 5 miles from the River, 8 from the ocean. Just outside the evacuation areas according to a map I just looked at.
Yeah, everybody on the coast needs to be ready, no telling where he's headed, despite all the forecasting, he will surely throw a curve ball at some point.
You should be good if you're in a solid home. I'm 5 miles in, high and dry at 14 feet above sea level. I only really get concerned with winds 100 mph and up. Made it through Wilma unscathed except being without power for a week.
We have a lake about 20-25feet from our back patio (screened) and sliding glass door, kinda concerns me. We're in a solid house, garage might be another concern.
I'm glad I don't have any water near me for a mile or two. As long as that lake isn't connected to some major river it shouldn't be a big problem. You should be on the west side of the storm which is weaker and less rainfall. I just looked at the forecast track again and was like Ho Lee Fuk! This thing is aboot to affect the entire eastern seaboart. Talk aboot impacting the coast!
Well, like you said, at least you've got flotation devises. Maybe the wind will kick up a little surfable wave.
I knew this was gonna happen, you get next to nothing all season long, it's bound to all come together at the end, just praying these turn out ok.
