I bet theres going to be some local kids in the area that take over the park and dominate it ,locals only. id try it out if it was in a different state.texas just doesn't really seem like a vaca spot to me like what else could u do besides going to the wavepark and drinking?atleast an actual surf trip,u can surf anywhere u want, get tired of one spot go to the next.idk id still like to surf the typhoon lagoon lol if I ever make it down to florida
I respect this community and the opinions of all the experts here. In all seriousness, how is this a sellout? I am not a corporate icon. Not the face of surfing. Just a guy that wants to have fun. If I go and try it and it is a lame example of what we all love...so be it. Whats the big deal? When I go visit my brother it beats the hell out of a lot of other things to try.
Yep. As noted on a earlier thread, this is like building a rock gym in the city. I guess at a basic pessimist premise, it's bad because more people will learn to love the sports and then there will be more crowds at the crag/break. On the other hand, more people mean more support for local shops and shapers and more people to fight for access to breaks/crags, etc... There are a lot of parallels. The sellout angle is so stupid. We're all making our boards and wetsuites now? Or are there sponsored surfers on the forum who are whoring out their cred at this pool? I think not...
Check your math...it's 1/2 as expensive as you quoted. Not saying it's cheap but only $7.50 per wave. Definitely worth it! 120 waves over a 2 hour session, which costs $90 per person. 10 people per session = 12 waves per person = $7.50 per wave.
I'm open to being wrong but can you break it down for me? 60 waves per hour divided by 10 people pretty clearly seems to be 6 waves per hour. $90/6 waves = $15/wave. Right? Where did I go wrong?
Oh nevermind, I see it. You think it's a 2 hour sesh... Sadly, this is not the case. A two hour sesh would be much more worth it though, I agree. From the website: "Surf Passes range from $60 to $90 for a one-hour session." ($90 for the 'expert' level wave)
Damn son...didn't realize it was only for 1 hour. Yeah that's silly. I would hope they could get the cost down to operate it with decent margins by lowering price but who know...no clue what the start-up and up keep costs are. -Surf's Up
