    well, they would just be a drain on resources :) Whining is not a skill set that will get them far in a dystopian future.

    Absolutely ^^

    I've always got enough basic food for 4 weeks (not difficult, canned goods that I turn over every few months);
    drinking water for 4 weeks;
    guns & ammo & a coupla sturdy knives;
    4wd;
    cash in small denominations;
    gold & silver;
    specialized multi-band radio;
    whiskey & scotch.

    What's in your wallet...?

    Can't wait to read Pump's List. His bugout kit gotta be downright real deal.

    pretty similar to yours. I would add a dirtbike since a large vehicle will be tough to maneuvre. also, water purification tablets/straws, med kits including surgery set and tons of antibiotics (will be worth gold), and IR proof camo netting.

    Good stuff. Absolutely yah to the dirtbike. Watching the madness take hold post-Katrina was an eye-opener.

    The med kit is something I need to beef up the contents of. Good point in re antibiotics. Infection kills more people than any weapons, regardless of stuff going on.

    I also have a solid stash of narcotic painkillers. Just in case I gotta numb things out until I can get repaired.

    I have a whole house gennie which runs on natural gas. (Doesn't qualify as taking me off the grid.)

    But a lot of people don't know that natural gas keeps flowing without the need of electricity. So it's really great in ice storms & crap like that when the power goes out for days or weeks. One of the top-3 best things I ever bot.

    Of course, when TSHTF it's likely that nothing at all will work, incl the gas line. That's where the bugout kit comes into play.

    The nation goes down and I am coming to your house! I'll bring beer and churros. I do have a couple pistols with a couple hundred rounds, so I can pick off the close ups. HA

    disagree on the AR/AK thing Austin. Most govt agencies use ARs so you should be able to grab ammo off them.

    best survival kit: not living on the eastern seaboard, and not living near any major metropolitan areas.

    Realistically in any sort of natural/human caused disaster this is a terrible place to be due to high population densities, lack of harvest-able resources, bad road systems, high potential for desirability for any sort of attack, and a host of other problems, same deal with cali. Doesnt matter what you have if you dont live long enough to use it, location is far more important in my opinion.

    Most likely babylon will fall, and some sort of quasi permanent social unrest will set in during my life time.

    Thats partly why i live in an isolated area with good waves, far from any cities, walking distance to a compound I work at stocked with MRE's enough for 10 years along with drinking water, fuel reserves, supplies, weapons, offroad vehicles and am a federal disaster resource qualified in obtaining and utilizing all of this.

    hard to say. Im not talking military since if the SHTF issue is a rebellion, i think they would sit that out (at least the real fighters). If its govt agents, some would bail and id take my chances with those guys who stayed. I went through sniper school with some BLM (not black lives matter) guys and they were a joke,

    Lol, I just happen to love the taste of overprocessed food, so MRE's fit the bill.

    There was a period where I was eating the entire contents of 3-4 MRE's per day along with heavy weight training. I got fkn huge in about 30-45 days with very little gain in fat. I swore those MRE's must have steroids in them, I'd never been that big and strong before.

    Then again, when you're taking in 6000-8000 calories per day, I guess your body is going to go through some changes lol.

    OTOH, sometimes I couldn't crap for a week. And when I eventually did, it was like giving anal birth to a brick. Not fun.
