Will watch it with La Frog a-swirl; cool post, gracias nynj. Gutsy / confident of shapers to put their boarts in like that for judgment.

Pretty cool/interesting. Didn't get to watch the whole thing yet but deffinitly will. At the end of the day though it dosn't really prove anything as far as the shapers go. All these shapers have already made a name for themselves, and diffrent people are going to like diffrent boards and board designs. To subjective to crown the king of shapers. But deffinitly cool to get into the head of a pro trying out diffrent equipment.

    Good vid... thanks, yj

An even better concept would be to have a bunch of "no name" shaper's boards... unrecognizable to the rider. Still, the idea works, and Dane picks a board he was 100% sure was from somebody it wasn't.

    Cool concept.
Hope they keep it going next year and beyond.

Went back and watched Julian's from last year. Not as good as this years production.
Dane rips. His power is most impressive IMO. overlooked by his aerial game.

I wonder what board was the "tweaker" board they blurred out at the end. Haha

Loved it. Surprised me with its honesty and lack of fluff. Dane knows his sh!t (obv.)
    Great soundtrack too...

Absolutely! A truly talented, well rounded surfer. Like Kelly and others of his caliber.

Been so busy with work that I hadn't checked the forum in a few days... just watched the whole video... f'ing cool. Dane rips and Pyzel has been my favorite shaper for the last several years. I can't say enough about his customer service, friendliness and, above all, quality. As I said in another post, I have a few of his boards, all epoxy and could not be happier. Glad Dane and Pyzel connected!

Just watched it. One thing I came away with--every board he used was damaged after he surfed on them. Bottom line--DO NOT ever buy any board made by those shapers. Talk about tin foil sh1t boards-lousy construction to be damaged as they were on first session.
I like my boards to last, not disposable boards.....

I agree with you, BC. That's why I've gone to EPS/epoxy construction almost exclusively. I can glass them like a tank, they maintain their snap for YEARS, and they will never delam.

Too bad they don't like color...

For my SB's I agree. But for my LB I still go Poly.

The shapers for that "contest" seem to have been obsessed with being very lightweight, sacrificing strength. If I want to be that much lighter, I will go pee or take a dump.

It's a spray, but check out my new one I just got from Stretch

They seem to do some pretty badass abstract resin work too if you're in to that, too

Why would you not buy boards from these shapers? They aren't shaping, with regards to strength, for the average surfer...and the video isn't a beauty contest either. Who gives a rats ass what color the boards are.

I can attest to this! My LBCrew special is still in perfect shape (after 2 years) and feels the same as the first time I rode it
