A developer is trying to build a 120 acre resort at Wilderness/Wishing Wells.
The plan includes construction of a break water which will most definitely ruin the surf at The Mix, Pressure Points, and Wishing Wells.
Please sign the petition https://www.facebook.com/MovimientoPlayuelaa/?fref=ts to stop this project.
Don't let Wilderness turn into another Rincon tourist sh!t show.

On a personal side, this place is near and dear to me, and a large reason why I trek there annually.
While it does get crowded with surfers and weekenders from San Juan, it still retains an untouched feeling.
Many people are dissuaded from going there due to the difficulty accessing the spots between Wildos and Wishing Wells.

    A casino there??
Well, why not? PR already has a drug problem; it has a prostitution problem.
So why not bring in a gambling problem??
Sounds like a plan to me.

Didn't show a petition, just information about a protest. I'd sign the petition, can't make the protest though.

Wow! That's f*cked up. I can't think of anybody else who uses their wealth and power to develope enviromentally sensitive properties around the world in total disregard of the desires of the local poulace.

Oh Papa, I knew you'd throw in your sick sense of humor.
NH already has a heroin problem. So why not just build a casino at The Wall to attract the pushers and pimps.

One of my favorite down there. Absolutely tore up our rental Kia minivan getting there over and over.

While I do agree with you, never forget, "money talks, bull**** walks".
It is about money. PR is 75billion in debt. While politicians talk about the jobs provided by the casino, they seem to forget, based on government numbers (Federal), 70% of PR population is on Welfare, Food stamps or similar. The last thing the population wants is an organization giving them the opportunity to work. It would be a drop in their salary. Government numbers show a person would have to earn about $70K to equal what you as a taxpayer are paying for each person on government assistance. There are 3.5 million persons living there at your expense; again, 70% are on Federal programs.
It is about money; nobody really gives a fvck about hugging palm trees or kissing fishes on the reefs.
The casino would fail no matter what. Look at Atlantic City as a model.
    just opinion.....

    Partially agree Barry.
Someone has had their pockets lined in order for this to go through, but there are plenty of locals who love to hug those palm trees and swim with the fishies. Probably more than not.
This project is doomed to fail, and the local officials know this. Several well established restaurants in the area that cater to tourists have permanently closed their doors. Many local hotels have a hard time filling rooms in peak season also.
It's a battle between corruption and public will.

It does--it emerged during the Democrat governance which is soon to end.
As for building a Casino at The Wall, I say do it!! I will become a croupier and reap the riches.

The reason those restaurants closed is because they cannot find anybody that wants to work. Why go to work when the Obama people go down there to recruit people to sign up for Welfare and Food Stamps?? Fvck the tourists.....I just signed up for "La Ayudita" as it is called (Welfare).

It couldn't have anything to do with the invasion of Afghanistan and the subsequent rise of opium exports going from 15% to 95%, could it?

Just curious, how much does one receive in welfare down there.
Expats owned One Ten Thai, and it was f'n packed with an hour wait on any given night. That's pretty good $$$ for a waiter/waitress.

That and Obamas "french connection" reactivating........
And, btw, an open door via South America into PR then an easy hop skip and jump into NYC helps a lot.
Obama administration REFUSED to give either enforcement interdiction aid, financial aid to stop free flowing drugs via PR. Homeland Security said "not my problem".....stupid.

Same as they do here in the USA. A single mother would have to earn about $70K to earn, after taxes, what she does on Welfare PLUS Food Stamps. And we are paying for that. And we get nothing in return. Zero. Nada. PR is no longer a military strategic location (no more bases) as it was during Cold War. ICBMs made it worthless in military terms. If Trump is smart, he would "set them free".
