Look for my friend Turtle. He lives out there and can show show you some of the spots, although you need to beware of the locals and be ESPECIALLY wary of their sisters.

Things are pretty heavy and the photogs are out in full force, so I'd suggest practicing in a wave pool of sorts just to get comfortable popping up. I hear twin fins work best.

When you get there, if Turtle isn't around look for my buddy Chandler's place. He's a real cool cat, old school kind of guy. Some may even call him a 'soul surfer'. I hope art school in Manhattan is going well!

Why should we be wary of their sisters?

Have a military ID? If so check out K Bay, not on the north shore but right up the H3.

Solid little first trip. Ala moana first before actual waves came just so I could try out the board I got. Started at puaena point when the swell came, went on a hunt for stank at v land I think the same day, went to v land all the next day, went to lanis one of the days, stank took me to a spot that I think I'm not supposed to name but I'm positive you and most others would know and fatally crushed an urchin therefore ending my trip a day early. Only missed one session due to my foot so I ain't complaining. Really really lucked out wave wise, didn't realize how much I could've struck out. And of course was tourist mode at dole and had a friend who goes to hpu and I played college kid for the day/night. Lots of surfing and kona big wave. What else can you ask for. Thanks again to you and everyone else with the help before I went, and of course stanks hospitality!
