Exactly. Punk rock designation equates to "no talent, no exception".
    Musically, a lost generation.

That was specifically the point. How very astute and insightful, BC.

    Hey Arch,
I was an 80's Hardcore Skater... I've seen... I believe... every band you mentioned... My first "Real" Skate board was a JFA... and the NY hardcore scene did have a crazy element of love and acceptance... Weird to think about it that way.

All good, I think you're a little older than me, but I'm familiar with the stuff you are posting, it liked The Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Exploited from back then. Hey what about Screeching Weasel?

I like Screeching Weasel. My right is a dope song for sure.
But with bands that were popular in the 90's like Weasel, newer Pennywise, NOFX, and some of the bands you mentioned etc, they were short lived for me.
If a particular song from these bands are on I don't mind and get somewhat psyched, but for me they aren't timeless like the late 70's-80's stuff.
They're no longer in rotation of what I listen to on the reg.
To each is own and all art is subjective to a point.
The buck stops at crap like Green Day. Blink 182 got alot of play back in the mid 90's but now when I hear it, it sounds like 8th grade girly music to me.
In fact I saw Circle Jerks open for Pennywise in '04 and left halfway through Pennywise's set. Shoulda been the other way around.
For me sh!t like this never gets old. NEVER!!!!

I don't think anyone ever considered Blink 182 punk...

    Jodie Foster's Army. YESSSSS!!!!
What a great time to grow up. Hardcore was something totally new and unexplored.
My first real skate was a Zorlac.

Back in '89 I lived with a rich chick in Los Angeles who went to USC (University of Spoiled Children)
They would have free concerts on campus all the time.
Along with seeing Devo there, the Violent Femmes played too.
I guess it's technically not really punk but when they played this song the crowd went nuts and some proper slam dancing was goin down.
By the end of the show all security was gone and there were cop cars with windows busted out and flipped over.
    Good Times!!!

You'd be surprised. After all some people think Green Day is punk.

Punk is a broad genre that has several sub-categories.

No you nailed it. Kiddie pop. I can't stand it.

My intro to punk was Dead Kennedys in the early\mid 80s. We were playing bball and this guy a couple years older rolled up with his boom box and tossed in a DK tape. I was a metal head but it grabbed my attention right away. It was just so raw, so different. He became our punk distributor. You'd bring him a buck and a tape and he'd dub a tape for you.

Saw the Circle Jerks at the Brewery in Raleigh in the late 80's. One of the most violent pits I've ever seen. Sh!t was crazy.

Why don't you man up and go into a club where one of these bands is playing and tell them so?
