Damn, that sounds awesome. I saw Waylon, Willie, and David Allan Coe around that time.
One of the best I saw was Ziggy Marley in a ballroom in one of the casinos in AC for his Dragon Fly tour. There was only like a couple hundred people there sitting on the floor. I was right up front. It was like seeing Bob reincarnate. Surreal.
I've seen the Allman Brothers a lot but I regret never seeing them with Duane still alive.
Could you imagine seeing Duane and Eric Clapton playing together with Derek and Dominos? That woulda been something.

Good treade. This is all I can think of off the top of my head and by going through my collection. There's actually a lot more. X is for bands I've seen more than once, in some cases multiple times. H is for ones that by some strange twist of fate I got to meet and in some cases I ended up hanging out with. I'm no fanboy, it just seemed to work out like that sometimes. Not listed is probably an equal number of local bands I've seen and in a lot of cases played with. In no particular order...

And for the guys that got to see Led Zep, esp. in their prime...despite all the great music I've been lucky enough to see, I'm jealous. Jimmy Page is the reason I picked up a guitar in the first place.

    ACDC
    Motley Crue
    GnR
    Van Halen
    Scorpions
    The Cult
    Ratt
    Dokken

There were some other big names performing that night. Can't recall them all. Don't know how the ship pulled them all together for one concert. One heck of a show. That was my last month in the Navy.
