Iam sick of my rip curl watches. Half of them die on me within a year. Love rip curl products, but not their dam watches...I have a thing about watches...Have alot watches, but rip curl will not be on my wrist anymore. May be just bad luck, gonna stop buying them anyway...and I aint sending them back...screw it. Going back to cheapie freestyle and g shocks...can get those under 50 clams and never had a problem with them and can take a freakn relentless beating. Just ordered 2 g shocks.
Ripcurl watches are a classic case of rip-off while the trend is hot. You will never go wrong with a Casio G-shock; they are my favorites.
Holy Schit, I actually agree with you! I've had my g shcok for about 6 years. havent even had to change the battery yet.
Shark Tide watch going strong for over a year and a half for me, bought it for $50 on amazon. Surf with it all the time too.
In the winter I put my gloves on, then watch on glove, then wetsuit over watch. I hate this cause it always tears up my suit after a season. and my hands are too numb to take it off after a sesh. They should make a watch that's really small like a rubber band and doesn't get in the way..Does anybody wear their watch outside the wetsuit, mine won't fit over it.
I just use a small casio watch that can be bought for like 15 dollars. Better yet in the colder months I will put the watch as small as it can go on my leash loop. It wont dangle in the water creating drag and does not get in the way of foot placement. I dont buy expensive watches because I can tell the tide and wave height on my own or look at a forecast site. I dont need a watch that probably doesnt calculate my local data screwing me all up. By at leash loop, I mean right at leash plug. So basically on the board.
My freestyle shark goes over everything...4 mil sleeve, and 5 mil mits, tho the mit is 3 mil at the wrist.
Wow??? I haven't owned or worn a watch in over 10 or 15 years. Can't even remember the last time I wore one???? Haven't worn one since cell phones began displaying the time.
I've got two Rip Curls, a metal dress-type one and a Trestles Oceansearch. Had both about 6 months now and both are working fine. Having said that, I have a solar G-Shock that's probably 6+ years old and I've surfed all over the world. It's indestructable and will probably last until I lose it on some reef someday. I look at these tide watches as essentially disposable. If I get one for $120 or so and it lasts me a year, that's not too bad. If/when I replace the Rip Curl Oceansearch I'll probably go with a solar G-Shock with tide, or a Freestyle or Nixon cheapo.
