That one sucks as well. Very namby-pamby sh1t music. Just opinion, of course..... Any more garbage music you would like to dig out of the toilet???
Well Barry, I am sure there is, being how my late mother ensured that I have a love and appreciation for a wide range of music, beginning with classical, first and foremost. I do know that my parents used to win most of the dance contests in their day, and I recall hearing quite a bit of 50's beebop, for it all, lol. Although they danced to the same songs, I believe, being male and female, they both had their own preferences. I will call my father and see what he would like for me to play for you (standby, lol).
O Barry...here comes a sleighful of them from dear ole Daddy! I told him what I was up to here, and I then asked what was one of the first songs he recalled liking back in his day. He replied, "The Rebel Johnny Yuma"; so, I issued my first query, fetching the following as a rather shocking result: to which I promptly replied, "But daddy, Johnny Cash is flipping a birdie", and daddy replied, "Noooo, Johnny Cash sang it after the fact". (to be continued)
Oh yes, without a doubt!
No. What I am saying is that his memory is worse than both your memory and my memory, these days, and understandably so, but obviously not so bad, being that he quickly corrected me, which is good! He explained that the song was a theme to a popular television series which used to air on Saturdays. I issued yet another query, learning that it debuted in 1959 and was about a veteran of the Confederate Army. And yet, you clearly skipped Anna Sophie Mutter. Americans have no idea who she is, but readily available on line.......it is a culture issue.
I have not skipped it. YOU need to learn to post your own clips (it is easy, "try" it). I am playing Daddy's music; the next one I do recall from back in the day and love it! He said he was stationed at Fort Benning when this one hit the airwaves. He and some fellow officers had gone out on the town, and he commented that all the gals began gyrating, lol:
^...that is the one I recall, but he was referring to the original, explaining it was simply a new sound at the time (1557):
Hey Kookie, did a cat catch the needle upon your record player arm, or are you simply skeeerd, now? I will play two more, before flipping back to my Christmas music. These are the first two songs I can recall hearing upon the radio. This first one, and I am not a fan of them, was when I was laying upon my baby blanket (I refused to give it up for a while, lol) about two feet in front of the massive television/stereo/radio console, mesmerized by the little red "on" light within the wood at the bottom of it, while imagining all within the song:
And my late mother was driving us somewhere, when this one came on within the car. I loved it, because I thought they were talking about Snoopy from Charlie Brown, and I used to sing it that way. I guess she never corrected me, thinking it was cute or something.

The first album I bought was the soundtrack to the movie Grease. Yep. I was 8 years old and played it on my yellow Tonka Toy record player. Then when I was 10 i had The Beatles' Sgt. Peppers. Then when I was 12 I mailed a penny in to that record thing off the back of TV Guide and got all of Led Zeppelins albums and a few Rush albums. The next year in silk screen class I made huge stickers of the Zeppelins album cover of the blimp on fire. Stuck one on the bottom of my surfboard and rocked up to my first ESA contest like a boss. Then some other kid started busting on me for the sticker. I told him, "What do you know bout music? You ride a sponge." Sent him packin with that.
Missed this treade somehow... First LP was a gift for my 5th birthday. "The Partridge Family Album." For Christmas the same year I got "Sly and the Family Stone's Greatest Hits." First music I bought for myself was Joe Walsh, "But Seriously Folks," on 8 Track! I was 12.
This brings back memories. Can't remember the actual first album. That brain cell is long gone. Y'all mentioned a lot of good ones though... Zappa, Traffic, Deep Purple, Cheech y Chong (Dave's not HERE man!) How about Uriah Heep? They had them crazy album covers that you could look at under a black light, after eatin some of them funny mushrooms... Eeeesy Livin, and I Beeen Forgivin.... Magician's Birthday cover. Tilt it back and forth under the black light and that fvckin picture would jump out at ya. All time favorite was Santana Abraxas. We used ta make SUPER 8 film surfin movies. Camera in a baggie. Showed em on the wall on a sheet. Black Magic Woman / Gypsy Queen was a favorite soundtrack. Film gettin stuck and burnin a hole though it, while we all were blasted, starin at the bubble gettin bigger and bigger, where the surfin movie used ta be on the wall. Splice it back together with scotch tape and keep goin. I'm a fossil. So what?
