unfortunately a young kid, 17, known as Keahi from Kailua-Kona, HI lost his life at Surfside Beach while surfing. 2 doctors staying at a condo saw him in the ocean, and pulled him out. http://wbtw.com/2016/12/26/surfer-drowns-in-surfside-beach-monday-morning/ I think the conditions were fairly the same as they were here in Charleston - 2-3 ft drifty conditions - not sure about the fog
fog could have disoriented him then he might been too far from shore..hard to say, sad though, been several of these up in the myrtle area this past year
A 17 year old?? And a Hawaiian? Naw, something ain't right here. He either hit his head or neck on sand bar or had an underlying and unrecognized medical condition. This isn't lost in the fog......
i don't think it's the fog, but the fog was mentioned in the paper today just cuz how dense it has been in the last several days. really doubt it has something to do with it, especially since two ppl saw it from their condo
hmm it has been foggy as fk kind iron how hawiian are hardcore watermen then come to sc and see some carolina cutbacks and die from amazement RIP.
damn that sucks.and the kid was from Hawaii,i was under the assumption that every Hawaiian is a great swimmer. oh well didn't read the story, maybe he broke his neck and couldn't swim idk
