Procrastinated on buying a new wetsuit so I was on the beach freezing my arse off shooting pictures of my 11 year old and his 10 year old best friend this morning. Temperature was 21 and the wind chill was 7. Camera wouldn't cooperate thanks to the combination of poor lighting and heavy snow coming down. Shaking frozen hands didn't help either. All I could do was shoot single stills and hope for the best. Unfortunately I missed their best rides or mis-timed their maneuvers or ended up with an out of focus mess on most of their rides. They had the waves all to themselves.
Dude you're making me feel bad for wussing out today, and it was a balmy 28 outside with 20+mph offshores.
These are two of the the most stoked 10 and 11 year old groms in NJ. They are on it every day there are waves and in the bowl at the skate park when its flat. Watch for these two in the coming years.

8th St, oh how I do not miss those days. Nice place to visit, thankfully my kids got out of the habit of calling it home. My 20 yr old is stuck there now gone to drive back tomorrow, never drove in snow before. Question do they still make you wear all that padding at the skatepark? Anyways good on you sharing this time with your kids. Nice man. Looks similar to how it was here (LI) this AM. It was pretty fun. Nice they got it all to themselves. It was spread out here so no problems, basically had a peak to myself all morning. But i was still surprised how many guys were out. Tomorrow should definitely be fun/better. And good on you for getting out with the camera. My dad takes pictures. Granted I'm 27 and he's in his 60s. Told him there would be some waves of he wanted to come down or have me pick him up on my way. He was like ehhhh nah I'll pass. Supposedly snow is bad for a 1000 dollar lense and a camera that is probably double that. At least that was his excuse
By the way, is this a blizzard? Not bashing CJ for calling it a blizzard. It's a serious question. I thought it was just a snow day. So are they calling it blizzard?
Don't know if it is an official blizzard but there was a warning down here. Been snowing like crazy here all day and still going. Wind is about 20.
Almost jealous, I am...have always said if 'tis going to be cold, there better be some snow! We heated into the 50's today but still have snow, and 'tis dropping to a frigid 13 tonight, with a wind chill of ZERO...! The two brave youngin's are both cuties, btw!
Same here. Should be stopping soon. Then i gotta go clean the truck off so i don't have to deal with it before the DP sesh tomorrow. Have fun of you or your son ate getting out tomorrow
