I will be an even greater complete failure than Obama. That I can tell you folks. Believe me. Plus I will finally kill Osama bin Laden. Bigly.
Gramps, you standing on the beach taking a photo and posting it here to prove you surf is beyond pathetic. Take your non surfing inferiority complex elsewhere.
Archy is just mad that the economy improving over the last 8 years did nothing for him. The thing is however if you start off as a fry cook chances are that is where you will end regardless of prez. But keep the faith archy in a few years you can be on elderly welfare just like kiddie.
I have to ask you guys that are democrats, and I ask this sincerely to try and understand. How do you feel about the revelations of project veritas, the Podesta emails, the over the top reaction to the trump win by young people etc? I mean I can see the potential weaknesses of Trump and can at least academically understand your position. But I do wonder how you come to terms with those issues without doing to conservatives what you claim is done to the democratic base by the conservatives. Do you justify it because you believe that we are evil and all is fair in the effort to defeat evil? How do you feel about the border? Do you believe the border should be wide open and anyone who wants to, should be able to come into the country unchallenged? Do you really believe that anyone who wants the border secure is a bigot? Do you believe we are stupid and you know better? I know this sounds like a set up but I swear I would be interested to hear your perspectives. Everyone I know who voted for trump did not vote for racial issues, bigotry, sexism etc. They voted for and with express purpose to stop the damage that they perceived and felt was being done to them every day under the Obama presidency. I have never seen my fortunes decline or felt my beliefs attacked to this extent under any other president. I had to vote for trump to have any chance at saving my future. Continuing with the democrats was not even an option. Kinda sucks being brow beaten continually by people who look down their noses at you like your an idiot because you see the world differently. Whats wrong with being a fry cook, wasn't Obamas claim that he was doing these things to help people stuck in jobs like fry cook?
Back in the day Zip, being a dem wasn't such a bad thing. When I was a little kid during the seventies, my dad worked in a huge steel mill and my mom had a factory job, and they were staunch democrats. I lived in a big blue collar neighborhood, small bars on every corner, and everyone was a democrat. It meant blue collar, and unions protected us. Reagan came in and the US steel industry collapsed, cementing their allegiance. Somehow the shift happened where the dems represented the working class to representing the elitist class, tree hugging, pro trans bathroom rights, wall street, ect... If I got screwed like you Zip, I would feel the same. I bought a house at the height of the bubble, right when I got married, and it depreciated by half in three months. All the big money shenanigans(Enron, Maddof, Tyco), bailouts, ect.. not to mention Iraq turned me against George W and I voted for Obama that first term (and I am an admirer of McCains bigtime, I was that mad at the republicans). I wish I could take that vote back. Big money bailouts continued, no one did time for that fiasco, foreign policy suffered, ect.. And as for government transparency, well now. Love or hate Snowden, he crushed that fantasy. I am a happy, cynical, independent. We do need to enforce immigration laws, get rid of nafta, but as a surfer, I like the EPA. Don't want beer cans and industrial waste in the lineup. Also someone needs to take away Trumps twitter account. That would be huge.
Now he has to do them correctly? I would say that is up to opinion, no? Most political issues aren't as cut and dry as mowing a lawn correctly. Besides, if you don't agree with the policy in principle, how could he execute in a way that would satisfy you? So if Trump builds a wall, but we pay for it. If he defeats ISIS, but doubles the already ridiculous national debt. He repeals Obamacare but his replacement doesn't reduce premiums or insure more people. He creates a ton of jobs, but by gutting the corporate tax base and therefore increasing the deficit. He would be a failure in your eyes? Just want to be clear. I think you're showing a tad bit of partisanship in your analysis of Obama's success. He did get a lot of what he promised pushed thru, be it good or bad for the nation. So by your own words, he was successful. Trying to delineate what was done "correctly" is mostly subjective, so depending on your ideology, answers will vary.
He may have never been a lobbyist himself; but, he was the head of a company that spends millions annually on lobbyists (most of them trying to debunk man-made climate change). It's the exact method of bastardizing science to deceive the public the Tobacco Industry used for 40 years. If he really wanted to drain the swap, he would have asked Rand Paul to do it.
You're better than this Archy. I remember when you actually participated in political debate. Now it appears you're on that Alex Jones tilt. Best of luck!
I'm hanging my hat on the 10 things I mentioned. GDP growth while low has been continuous and without a recession. Often when you have high GDP growth it is followed by a contraction where you have negative GDP for a period of time. He dropped troop levels by 93% in the Middle East. The great recession officially ended in sept 2009 when GDP growth became positive once more. Jobs and wages have been slower to recover and it's fair to blame that on Obama, but without question, we are in a far better economic state than we were in 2008.
It's not an either/or world Zip. I'm a lib in some areas and a conservative in others, and I think most people are like this. I think gay people should have the right to marry (I mean really who cares), but I'm dying to see meaningful work to address our deficit. I want to see the corporate tax rate lowered, and a vast simplifying of our tax code, but I also want to have universal health care as I think that is the only way costs will truly be lowered. I am big on preserving and protecting the environment, but I want an efficient and smaller government. I want lower taxes, but I want everyone to have a fair shake (rich or poor) in succeeding in our country... There are a lot of things/people on the left and right that I do not like or agree with, but democracy is by it's very nature a very chaotic enterprise. The important thing is, is that we're never satisfied and always trying different things, and this is a great source of strength in the long term, even if we suffer at times in the short term.
I'm not going to get into a political discussion. But I'll say this. The president should be president and not a celebrity. SNL and talk show appearances, saying Obama out and dropping the mic, brushing his shoulders off and referencing other rap lyrics in speeches...the list goes on. Not that any of this really relates to your ability to be a good president, but still. Your president, act like it. Stop trying to look cool in the eyes of young people and just be president. How does the rest of the world see us when our leader is trying to rap or freestyle. I'd think they wouldn't take us very seriously. In my opinion it makes Obama look like a clown. Presidents shouldn't have social media accounts, it's the one issue i have with trump right now. I guess it's just the way the world is now. But i mean i go to work everyday. I represent my company. Look and act professional. As president your representing the country. Look and act professional.
People who are still priasing Obama are total morons. And all you Bernie burn outs are total morons. Trump is proving to be so good so far Hey libtards stfu you're all pretty fckin stupid
It is much better to have a president that tweets about Meryl Streep at 3 in the morning and whines about Alec Baldwin making fun of him. It sends a positive image to all the world. That I can tell you folks. Bigly.
See when I read this it shows how close we really are. I believe gay people should be able to do whatever they want, our only difference is I don't think the government has a place in sanctioning it. I don't believe in government controlled healthcare because I believe that government power should be limited wherever it can be (plus I hate being told what to do). My world view is very simple, boys are boys and girls are girls. You can believe that you are anything you want but it doesn't change that basic truth and the government doesn't have a place choosing a side. I believe that there is climate change and that human beings play some part but how much is in question and shutting down the discussion of how much is not the answer. Just like I lock my door at night I believe a country has a right and obligation to lock its doors. With all the contention over immigrants I'm all for stopping all immigration until it can be sorted out. I'm white and don't see anything racist about looking out for my own interests just like every other race of people is allowed to do as long as my overriding concern is the well being of my country. I've always believed that a country is nothing short of an extended family. But just like in a family nothing is truly equal or truly fare. Trying to artificially enforce fareness or equality is a recipe for disaster.
If you say so. I just don't think Obama had a material effect on your "10 things". Troops/ drones....we are still in Middle East. GDP growth has not been continuous. 2008 was a major contraction and it bounced back to a 0 economy shortly after. Since, it has been a struggling 2% economy supported by historically low rates driven by the Feds policy. One thing we can agree on is the deficit...and more importantly our national debt.
