It is south of Marias (and North of Tres) but I think the topography makes you look NW, toward Marias? But I could be wrong... it's been a LONG time... I have a picture of me holding my oldest son (now 21) or my second (now 19) in that pool, with that exact view in the background. It is amazing...
It's most likely between the two, I just remember taking many twists and turns going up that mountain in a rental car that could barely make it up there. I believe I was pointing the camera to the WSW in the pic looking out to the water, If I recall the trees were blocking the NW, but I could of been spun around and hung over...
Oh, I've sucked in lots better places than Sayulita, I was getting pounded by Santa Cruz/Monterey waves in the early nineties, busted my cherry and lots more. I rarely get around anything I can surf anymore, this will be my first actual surf trip of my adulthood.
