Commies and Trump see eye to eye: bring back manufacturing in America. Except we need livable wages. There was never any reason to cut labor costs to "be competitive". Tax the sheet out of imports and pay workers a livable wage, don't bog them down with debt, and they will buy more sheet.

Early bands like the Clash were cool. I really started getting into it in the early 80s. I was a skate rat charging half pipes and listening to bands like: bad brains, DK, black flag, agent orange, dead milkmen, circle jerks, some Bad Religion (actually did not really listen to them until late 80s early 90s. Oh and Agnostic Front...they freaking rip.

The thing about Punk for me was really the instrumental aspect. The Lyrical side was cool I guess. A lot of the same stuff (F the govt etc) or just off the wall **** that was senseless mayhem lol.

Heading in to the 90s, the whole grunge thing always seemed too commercialized for me. Plus I think I started to mellow out a bit with cranking thrash all the time.

Since, I will listen to just about anything but new music today sucks big time. I was jamming some Primus last night!!!

Corporate America is looking out for the little guy huh? Corporate America is socially responsible? Government is not some inaccessible entity if you participate. I call my reps all the time. I've lobbied for wage increases in front of state senate. Democracy can be accessible. And progressives promote democracy. If government didn't keep capitalism in check with regulations then we would be paying the company store a nickel short each week. And those regulations allow you to earn a wage that allows you to experience guess what more personal freedom.

Find me one conservative government that doesn't tell you what you can and can't do with your private property, your children, your body.

And broheim I've been punk for many moons there young spike horn. And there are many different "sects" of punk. You'll find most punk bands are anti war, anti wealth and greed, pro environment, pro dissent, and pro thought. You my friend are none of those.

I listened to all those bands you mentioned and saw quite a few of them back in the day. I probably got into it back in 84 when I was 13, like I said in the punk thread. I don't live by the lyrics, I took them to heart a little more in the 80's as a teenager. Some of them still resonate with me, others not so much. I loved all the New York hardcore in the late 80's, still do. Still see a lot of those bands when they play shows, which seem to be the only shows I attend these days. I only have time to attend them in the Spring and Summer anyways. After my favorite bands from New York broke up in the early 90's, I had a steady girlfriend and job and I didn't see as many shows as I had gone to in the past. I still listened to the music though and listened to a lot of the Epitaph stuff and the newer hardcore bands that were coming out. After I split from that girl around 97, I had more free time and started attending a lot more shows in the late 90's and early 00's when I could. I liked NOFX a lot back in the late 80's and early-mid 90's. Can't stand them at all anymore, some of those earlier records are cool though. Same with Bad Religion.

One thing that annoyed me about Bad Religion was their anti capitalist message, then they go and sign with Atlantic Records. I have no problems with punk bands signing to major labels. I don't see them as sell outs, unless they speak out against capitalism and the like, like Bad Religion was doing. I never accused bands like Green Day or The Offspring of selling out. The only thing that bothered me about when bands signed to those labels were they usually changed their sound and became more pop oriented and radio friendly. The only bands that didn't change their sound too much after signing with them were Sick Of It All and Bad Religion particularly. And neither band ever had much mainstream success, nor sold a gold or platinum record. Although Stranger Than Fiction by Bad Religion may have achieved gold status. I believe it took a few years of being out for it to finally go gold. Neither of those bands changed from their previous record before the major label releases. Bad Religion did make one really awful album towards the end of their Atlantic Records days. The last one they put out on there back in 99 or 00, before they brought Brett Gurewitz back and went back to Epitaph.

I love punk music though, as I've just made two long posts in separate threads professing my love for it haha. But I don't conform to political philosophies associated with the music, at least not blindly. There's some things I agree with and a whole lot that I don't agree with.
