Just make sure you don't try and sell used boxer shorts pretending they are vintage surf trunks.

If anybody has the startup capital to loan me, i'll create a legit shop that everybody would want to buy from. In my experience, 99% of shops are doing it wrong. It's a tough business I know, but times have changed, shops need to evolve. But this isn't the type of evolution needed. These types of shops are not going to last, they don't cater to the core group of surfers and are nothing more than a fad for the trendy types. I'm sure there are a few boards in there that are good, not the point, it's just the overall business plan that is lacking.

    In Newport Beach?

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

In a way, it looks very similar to a scaled down Surfy Surfy in Leucadia, minus the usual accoutrements found in a surf shop. Coffee, hipsters, alt shakes...at least Surfy has wax, right?

Don Redondo must be puking in his coffin though. At the beginning of the vid, the owner rocks up...on a girl's bike. Yeah it's old and classic, but not a spot of rust. Every single "guy" in the shop looks like they are all perfectly coiffed and manicured, never having done a day of manual labor in their lives.

It just screams "Trust Fund". The operation looks like it's been bankrolled by the 'rents.

Is this what surfing is becoming? Or is this just an example of zeitgeist?

Ya! I stopped in there too! And it was @ 5 years ago... maybe we passed by each other? I couldn't figure the place out and wondered if it was a cover for drug dealing on the patio. I couldn't figure out how they'd sell enough to pay the rent.

" The person who says it cannot be done, shouldn't interrupt the person doing it."

Everyone thought Mollusk would be toast in 6 months....
    12 yrs later...and 3 stores....

    I dunno...
Mollusk..surfy surfy, thalia, trim, mitch's..bird's shed...
    Outer known, katin,etc
They are all there and good for some one...

When I was in jax bch....
This lawyer opened a surf skate shop
    In pvb..
That basically was local poser pac sun...
Over priced, uninformed non-surfing staff, no boards, leashes, wax, etc..
    I walked in....and out...in less than 2 seconds...
My feeling if it's not for you?
    Don't go though that door.

That's why I started this thread. Is this a thing? Are these post hipster effeminate artf*gs a new branch of surfing evolution? Or are they just 2nd gen wanna be's?
Mollusak and surfy surfy caught the wave way outside before the pack even knew what was coming, and at least they have a healthy stock of alt shakes to fit most any walkins needs.
And Mitch's has been around for decades.
    Katin was a trail blazer.
OuterKnown? Do you known? Where do they sell that? At the same store as Lairds GMO Super Food crap?

From a business point of view, Gaydreams will die unless they put a shaping room in the back to cater to the surfer lookin for an alt shake or have a caffeine fueled Gidget beach bongo pajama party/f*g orgy Wednesdays to stay alive.
