I don't think I ever heard that entire album from the Exploited. I never cared for them, but had a mix tape in the mid-late 80's with some of their earliest stuff. Most of it was from ''Punks Not Dead''. I really love the Special Duties, as far as early 80's UK stuff goes.
D.R.I is coming to the EC in August, with a stop in Raleigh.
I've seen these guys live a few times, always crazy, always a blast. Warren the Mutant Boy is insane, he played the guitar with his bare ass one time, what a nut job lol
I haven't heard anything new by them in 20 years or so, not even sure if they put out anything anymore. I think I first saw them in the late 80's or so, probably around the time I got into Bad Religion. I remember being on a mailing list for Epitaph back in the early 90's, where they would send me samplers and advertisements for new albums coming out, since there was no internet. So I got records and cassettes from bands like them, The Offspring, Pennywise, Bad Religion whenever they'd put something new out, which annually back then. Down By Law, NOFX and Rancid too. Down By Law was pretty cool, since they had Dave Smalley from Dag Nasty and DYS, who I had started listening to and saw for the first time when I was 13 or 14. I didn't attend shows much between 92-97. Had a steady girlfriend and didn't go to them every week, like I had been before that. Just occasionally. New Red Archives used to send me stuff too haha.
Officail Bad Brains doc. Pretty sad story. HR basically turned out to be a homeless crackhead in Baltimore. Worth a watch though for any Brains fan.
What happened? it's 2 hours of the rise and fall. Roots. Influences. Shaky periods. Ultimate demise. I mean really. How do four black dudes from DC turn into the most influential band that redefined punk in America. That's what happened.
Probably my all time favorite punk band. HR was a freak.... artistically and personally. Saw them in NYC back in the day, and it totally blew my mind.
one of a kind band. funny setting...not is some dark club but playing on the beach to a bunch of 80's spring breakers. But man they are bringing it!
This is the best song from that show, though...
But this photo was shot at the show I saw in the City, at the Rock Hotel. It was the summer after I turned 21.
Thanks for posting this Archy, I love the Bad Brains and haven't seen this yet. Going to check it out after I put the little one to bed. Never saw them live, a big regret. HR did a solo show on Oahu when I was there in 92 but I didn't go, the radio commercial had him doing this militant rant. It wasn't the Bad Brains. A great doc is American Hardcore, great segment on them.
Always saw photos in mags and heard little bits here and there about the place. Holy Fuk is all I gotta say. If you're truly a hardcore skater who doesn't give a rats a$$ about anything other than drugs, sluts, booze, and oh yeah skating than this could be heaven. Maybe back in the day when I was 15-25 but sh*t man this is roached. But at the end of the day I love it. Merica Fuk Yeah.
