Thanks bra. Found yet another ding i need to repair, acetone probably ate it. You can get an idea of what she's gonna look like soon. Just needs a ding repair and light clear coat. Not a bad restoration for what cost my pops $50. It's a twinny with small trailer fin - glass ons. More pics to come
From this old beater I put way to much effort into this thing but it taught me a lot about ding repair and painting. I'm actually thankful that she was such a hassle. No pain, no gain. Hopefully she rides. Yewwww.
Fins: twin + trailer - glassed on And btw the board is a "hotline" looks like it was based out of down south. Gotta be an 80s or 90s shape.
Wow really good work kanman! Hadnt checked in on this thread in awhile. Just read this last page, when i saw that board i thought it looked pretty sweet...then i saw what it started as. I'm impressed! By the way, how do you like that stretch quad set? What board is that you have them in? I just bought that set for my mini sims. Hadn't really had the waves to really test them out yet though. Hoping for some waist-stomach fatter yet with some punch soon to really test them out. Unfortunately the first sesh on that mini was the only day like that since iv had it. And it was prefect for that board
Thanks fellas. Kind of a sentimental piece since it was from my pops. Hopefully she's not a dog. Feels pretty good under arm. And Bass, I have the stretch quads on my big groveler. Probably similiar to your mini but this thing is a tank. It's massive. I have a little nubster in it too. I don't need it but I like the extra hold. If you enjoy speed you'll love the stretch quads.
Nice man. That board does look similar to the mini but i thought it looked big from the picture haha. And dint forget to give us the ride report on the board you fixed up. That thing not only is looking good thanks to you, but it looks like a super fun board as well. Intrested how it rides
Finally cleaned my garage out so I can get to work, I had a bunch of boxes and sh*t clogging up my space from getting a new bed and a bunch of other stuff recently. I just sanded off the ding and now she's ready for repair.
Here's a few of the repairs I did for this boart. It's been in the water a few times since and it rides like new.
I discovered a slight crack on the top and bottom of the boart so the repair will be on the top side of the rail, middle of the rail, and bottom of the rail.
Looks good so far, just be careful if you are using a power sander around the rails. On a small repair like that I do the rail work completely by hand. The only other thing I would add is to cut your cloth patches in an circle/oval shape. They are easier to hide under the hot coat that way.
1st Coat of resin / cloth is done and is drying right now. Will get a pic later. Then will sand and apply 2nd coat, then sand, and finish with wet sand.
