Hi all. This is my first post so hi. I am an older dude trying to get back in the water. I have probably a 15 year old Excel suit that I think still fits, but the inside lining is coming loose. I am in Wrightsvillle Beach so our water hovers +- 50 degrees in deep winter. It is still usable, but are the new suits that much better? I know this is the time year to get a deal. I haven't surfed a winter in years, but I am itching to get out there now after a recent trip to PR.
    Thanks!

Edit: Same question applies to gloves and booties.

New suites are incredible... Get one. I surf in your "neck of the ocean."
Take it from your "handle" you are aboot 48 years olde. Tell us about your whip, your best bench press, your experience shotting piers and submit pics of wife and/or legal aged daughters... I would be meaner... it's part of the initiation process into the virtual line-up. but I don't want an infarction...

The wife is mine, my daughter can shoot and I have surfed SSS pier in AB at night, and shot Crystal more times than I can count. 49 actually. That good enough? Lol!

Shot by Robbie Johnson at Sun Skipper about 20 years ago no less.

Ok.. So I just tried on the Excel Infinity 3.5 and it does still fit somehow, but the inner lining at the end of the arms, front of chest and inner legs are starting to come loose. Seams are still taped. I am thinking it is worn out. What companies are making the best mid priced suits in either a 4/3 or 3.5. I am 90% 4/3

I'm on my second Rip Curl Dawn Patrol. Under $200 bucks... had a 4/3 for 5 years Still good but got a deal on a 5/3 a few months back so grabbed that.
My two centavos but there are more better wetsuite officienados than me on this here forume.

I am torn between 3/2 and 4/3. I will surf more March and April than Dec, Jan. I guess I can get a 4/3 for coldest and still use my Excel as it warms a little. Not a fan of baking in the sun when the water is still cold.

If the suite says 3.5 on it- it's probably a 5/3...

If you get a good 3/2 it will be as warm as the old 4/3s

I think guys in your area wear 4/3 in winter

Check out seshday.com for the best deals around

Wetsuite is the propere spelling bye

Say hi to victor in NC for me...
