I accept that there are more friendly ways to get my point across. In the interest of my mother's good name I will try harder to be nice.

How about this: Good day, kind sir. The answers you seek have likely been answered across several threads in the SwellInfo archive. Please scroll to the top of your page and in the search bar type "roof rack", "rack", "straps", "roof", or any combination of those words. Good luck on your search and enjoy your time on the SwellInfo forum! Love, headhigh.

Hey I drive a 2005 mazda 3 hatchback and use rhino rack. Assuming you also have the hatchback the rack is probably the same as the one i have. Since our cars has no provisions for mounting the racks, you have to use the racks that latch on to the door frame. Been using my rack for over a year carrying multiples surfboards and snowboards and haven't had a problem

A simple redesign of the gutter feet would have solved that issue.

Lmao. That's pretty good. I did actually institute maybe 2 searches and didn't find what I was looking for as I need racks for a specific car I figured a specific question was best. Touchee Sir!

LOL. thanks for having a sense of humor. I drive a 2001 civic (no rain gutters or anything) and I have a INNO roof rack. I could not be happier and I saved about $300 off a comparable thule or yakima rack. . Bought the whole kit off Amazon Prime. https://www.amazon.com/2014-2016-Ma...553455&sr=8-1&keywords=inno+roof+rack+mazda+3

You'll need to order the correct fit-kit, the right feet, and crossbars. I also got the wind fairing b/c I do some highway traveling. I went with a wider than recommended crossbar to make it look more rugged.

I'm looking to get a tow behind trailer for my bicycle to haul my kayak around. It's a pain in the ass to put it on the car to drive a quarter mile to a launch site and then load it back on top of the car to bring it home.

Rack marketing sure is evolving. I just went to Thule, Rhino, and Yakima to search for surfboard racks. Not one of them carries racks DESIGNED FOR SURFBOARDS anymore. They ALL carry racks designed for SUPs. That tells me these 3 companies are interested ONLY in the YUPPIE market, not the average joe. In addition, seeing as how surfers are now all on shortboards, for the most part, the marketing people assume surfers are jut placing and fitting them inside their car, not on top of the car.

yup. We average joes (read: working, lower middle class) who ride longboards don't have the loot to buy a nearly $1000 roof rack set up, so why waste the money marketing to us? Mr. 2%er who wants to re-capture his glory years on a gaint SUP that he'll use once on the other hand, he's the one they want.

    You are absolutely correct.

If i'm riding anything but the longboard it will fit in the trunk with the back seats folded down. For years before I could afford a roofrack I used to slide the passenger front seat all the way forward, take off the head rest, recline the seat all the way back, and with the back seats folded down I could fit a 9'2 noserider completely inside the car. Did this in my '95 and my '01 civic. Only prob was the wax melting onto my seats while I was at work haha.

BTW the honda civic is the best car ever made imho. my 1995 had 286k miles when I sold it and never had a serious issue. I still see it around town. Corollas are great too.

One really fun occasion when putting boards in my 93 hatchback Mustang from that amazing Spring of 2001, my buddy and I were driving from Bergen County down to Manasquan Inlet one late afternoon on a weekday. We could only fit two people in the car (the driver and one uncomfortable passenger up front) with the boards in the back and my roommate was gonna meet us down there in his truck. He was taking another friend of ours with him in his truck.

It just so happened that when we were at the toll plaza on the Eastern Spur of the Turnpike over in Secaucus, he was hitting the toll booth at the same time and pulled up right behind us. He was beeping his horn obnoxiously and pointing out the window and him and our other friend were laughing and shouting ''Look at these dumb basturds putting surfboards in a Mustang! Surfing is dumb! Surfing is for puss!es! Look at these two hobo's! I hope your dumb boards fall out the back or somebody clips you! I hope you break down before you get to a beach you ****ing bennies!'' they were shouting all this **** at us. People in other vehicles obviously didn't know that we were friends and knew each other. And he rode side by side with us and did the same thing at the toll booth at exit 11 and on the Parkway tolls also. The whole way down! I'm surprised nobody called the cops on them, thinking they were seriously road raging.

And all the while, their boards are laying in the bed of his truck. He had a pretty long bed though and you couldn't even tell there were boards in the bed of his truck, unless you were in a big semi truck or something. What a d!ck they were that day! Good times. That was a fantastic Spring! Really hot and humid in April and May, warm water and pretty fun waves for that time of year.
