If I was so board with world class surf on the reg that I was riding "any board in any wave" I'd probably be doing the same thing... minus the tv and youtube shows. But hey... a guy's gotta make a buck, ey? And I'd know I'm jaded... But I think JOB knows what he's got... and appreciates it every day.
It's good to have a variety of things to do outside of surfing the trick is, as long as it doesn't interfere with surfing. Too far either direction will make you not on an even keel and that's not a positive direction oriented goal. I'm guilty of it too
Well said... I couldn't agree with you more. Surfing's important. We know that, and make a lot of life decisions based on how important it is. But it's not our entire world... or at least it shouldn't be. It's too selfish an act to become the only thing that matters in life. You gotta have something to contribute, too... and you gotta of some other outside interests and outlets to keep your world in balance. To bring it back to being a self-loathing longboarder... imagine only riding one board for the rest of your life. Suddenly surfing wouldn't be as rich and fulfilling an experience as it is when you can make a few choices.
