    What's your reasoning?

15 years ago you could buy a 60 inch plasma screen TV for about $25,000.

I've thrown away $5000 computers that I've replaced with $1500 computers that I've since replaced with better, faster $500 computers.

I worry about my youngest son. If you take his phone away, it's like taking the needle from a junkie.

Yet, $25,000 tv's and $5000 computers still exist.

Things won't get less expensive, nor will life be "easier". These things were supposed to happen with the internet. It just added another layer of technology to our lives.

It's possible the internet will cease to exist. Who needs computers, when you have Alexa or some sexy Fembot telling you everything you need to know? We will probably use these tools as our own personal slaves, in which they will unquestionably do all our bidding...until they wise up. Then Congress argues about emancipation for Bots.

The irony here is that one set of robots (speed / red light cams) are going to be foiled by another set of robots.. driverless cars.

But thanky, having skills in computer systems and bot repair will sustain some for a while, until the bots figure that out too.

This has been the theme/subject of many sci-fi movies (2001 Space Odyssey, Terminator, Matrix, etc.).

These things seem more plausible every day moving forward.

Btw, I don't necessarily agree with the opening lines that we invent these things because we are smart and lazy. There are certainly a lot of lazy humans around, and we all have observed and been affected by them. I think we invent things and better ways because we are smart, creative, and seek to make things more efficient and productive. It's hard to say where all this ends, but wisdom dictates we better have a fail-safe hardware kill switch on this stuff.

Listen to the song from the 60's called "In The Year 2525". This will give you an idea of life under AI.

I hear you ccdog, once the AI can rewrite its own programing and make itself better, thats it

I think this is the the death knell to an 'even playing field', not that it exists now exactly....The hyper oligarchy in the works will really differentiate, us peons will simply be wage slaves for some jobs, organ farms and sextoys for the elite while we battle in slums for food and they live in the lap of luxury.

hope I am wrong, here is a short story to cheer you up. but not really

That was heavy.. raises some questions.. will AI have the capacity to make moral choices? have compassion and loyalty? love? emotion? These are some of the things that, as beings created in the image of God (at least that's my belief), make us human.

A lot to digest in a short flick ..

    ^^ accurate

We are a long, long way from the old (and true) saw that 'necessity is the mother of invention.' Now, it's more like money making is the mother of invention.

The first thing that scares me with AI is how people are already humanizing it. For example my wife always says please and thank you to Siri. I am like wtf are you being polite for?
