You may be right, Wrex, you may be right. The cost of goods today seem to demand more of one's paycheck than it did back in the day. Then again, nothing much was 'branded' except for truly wealthy people; now, everything seems branded & we pay out the sphincter for that BS.

Crazy to think, but branding might be on the way out. Saw this AI/marketing guy interacting with ALEXUS, the spy from Amazon that listens to everything. When you ask her to buy stuff (without looking at screen) she will suggest Amazon basics, every time, if you ask for something different she will suggest a different amount or size of amazon basics. She will then tell you that there are no other options if you persist. When you go online and view the screen, there are a many options, but a little bit more expensive.
There is a 3-5% price break when ordered from VOICE ALONE and this is weird and interesting. As laziness and economic hardship progress and retail collapses (even more?!), the mongoloid cannibals at amazon are working on destroying brands & TV/Movies as they spend more on content creation than HBO.

Beasting to become the ACME PRODUCTS of the future.

where that fkn roadrunner?! He doesn't have a chance against a coyote controlling ACME products and distribution of all goods. or at least most.

The way I see it is put your money where your mouth is.
I've gotten away from Amazon. I'll go look there for what I want, then instead of ordering from Anazon I'll buy from the store who is listed as the seller. Usually the same price or 1% more and most places offer free shipping nowadays. I've also gone back to eBay and or try to find a brick and mortar close buy via Internet.
Also tell everyone when the topic comes up of the dangers with this new technology.
I go as far as calling peeps out for being lazy POSs. I don't give a sh!t.
I tell my friends with kids that they are bad parents for giving them smartphones and xboxs.
    If they are offended IDGAF.
Probably why I don't have many friends anymore.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest. They've caved and are mindless zombies. Then they wonder why their kids are lazy morons who can't figure anything out without Google.
In fact I find it more enjoyable being alone most of the time. I don't have to listen to zombie bs.
Nature. It's time for the human race to put their hands in the soil and get back to being human.

AMZN is currently plagued by fakes & knock-offs. Not as outright evil as Alibaba.com but getting there.

"I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet..."
