LOL His heart is in the right place though. I don't discount what he says regarding anything medical though, he's S.I.'s resident Doc.
DP, What Iggy said in re sleep apnea. GF's have told me that I stop breathing when sleeping. I did the exams, I have sleep apnea, couldn't get used to the damn MIG fighter pilot mask on my grill....so I do nothing about it & will likely die from it one night. Wish there was something better than that damn mask. Also, alcohol is hugely disruptive to sleep. Even one beer/drink can wreck your good rest. Some reports starting to go mainstream that are basically saying that alcohol isn't good for you in any way, shape or form. I'm looking forward to the next expose of Big Liquor hiding the devastating effects of alcohol on sleep. In the line of Big Tobacky-smoking-isn't deadly to health; & Exxon-hiding the effects of petro on global climate change; & Big KO-lots of sugar in soda is good for everybody.
I had some drinks that night for sure, while on vacation that's to be expected. So that definitely could have been a contributing factor, although I wasn't being excessive or anything. The dream was as real as could be though. I know the feeling of trying to get to the surface and almost not getting there, it's locked in my brain, so maybe it's just replaying an old track like a CD player on shuffle / repeat? I won't rule out sleep apnea though, I hear it's pretty common. Hope yours doesn't take you out one day. You should wear the mask, post a shart huffer style video with it on, it'll be great!
LOL the Bane mask, my FIL wears one and Leety, good looks hmu if you head over hear, sorry I missed you a few falls back when I visited Maui. on the plus side, small kind NW burst Thur/Fri with an overhead pulse Monday? and the south swells look to get cranking on memorial day weekend
Before anyone can give you any meaningful advice, if that's what you're looking for, you need to detox yourself for a while so you can figure out what your natural state is. If I'm reading your post correctly, you're basically spending all week stoned and all weekend drunk. So if you're having weird dreams and sleep/breathing problems, my first thought would be that will all that **** in your body you could be screwing yourself up. I'm not judging, it's your body to do what you want with. But if you really have concerns, Barry has some good advice, and cutting out the weekend 12 pack wouldn't hurt as well. Give it a month and see how your body adjusts.
Thanks for the input Toonces. Let me clarify a bit. I don't have breathing / sleeping problems per say (that i'm aware of). I simply had a bad dream about drowning and literally couldn't breathe as a result. I was gasping for air my wife tells me. She woke me up and I was fine immediately. I can't remember a time that has happened before. I have had other real vivid dreams where i'm running and my legs get going or i'm fighting and my arms get going or i'm having sex and my hip thrusters get going (no joke). But we're talking a handful of times not like every week or even every month. As for my habits. I self medicate using herb on a regimented schedule to deal with depression / anxiety as well as hyper-hydrosis (excessive sweating, usually brought on by anxiety). It is the only thing to help keep sh*t to a minimum without altering my brain the way anti-depressants do. I tried them before (anti-depressants) and I hated every day I was on them. It wasn't me. With the herb and how I use it, I only get "high" for a short duration and then i'm back to "normal" rather quickly. It doesn't affect me the way it does a lot of others when i'm regular with it. I operate at a very sober / coherent level 99% of the time, only when I mix with a lot of alcohol can it get out of hand for me. To me it's the best / safest alternative I have found to dealing with these issues. (herb, not alcohol) As for the alcohol. I wouldn't say I get drunk hardly ever anymore. If I drink 3 or 4 IPA's, I'll get a little buzz but i'm not drunk. If I do that 3 times (Friday - Sunday), that's a 12 pack. Nothing extreme or anything, but I definitely could cut back a little more, as I have already done so recently. I'm not really looking for advice to be honest. I just thought it was an interesting experience and thought i'd share and see if anybody else had experienced the same thing. I sometimes wonder if our dreams / subconscious is where we go when we eventually die. What if that's the next life? Lucid dream our way through eternity?
Yank, my uncle has pretty severe sleep apnea. He could not use the Cpap either. It got to the point where he quit using it. Subsequently he learned about a different path. He now uses what looks like a mouth guard...not sure of all the technology with it but basically it is fitted to your mouth and creates the path for better breathing or something like that. I wish I knew more to convey but I do know it works like a champ and he is content with using it every night.
My wife was using the mouth guard for a while to help her deal with the snoring. It helped for sure. But she got tired of wearing it every night and gave it up. I might encourage her to get back to it, for selfish reasons of course lol
Kidding aside, I concur with the apnea concerns. I have found myself waking up from being unable to breath. Usually it's because I was on my back. I can't sleep on my back for this reason.
DP, quit smoking 2 weeks ago for a piss test and my dreams have come back fierce. its like going to the movies only I'm the lead role! I have dreams maybe twice a year were I'm aware its a dream and Ill do shatt that I would never do in real life, sex, flying ect. failed a swab test 3 weeks ago after 3 days off and ultra clean mouth wash $30! don't trust!!
Haha Nice picture! Dang man that sucks, it's always a gamble relying on those things. Two more weeks and you should be good to go though.
